Accepting new clients! I work primarily with LGBTQ+ people who have experienced trauma and are looking to improve their lives. This might be wanting to feel less anxious or depressed, have healthier relationships, have a deeper knowledge of yourself, or something else. I also have a particular interest in working with clients living with disabilities and chronic conditions, especially those who are "in transition" from non-disabled to disabled. I am a Qualifying WPATH Member and can provide mental health services for individuals looking for support specific to gender-related topics, like social & medical transitioning.

The private practice of Shawn Patrick McNulty, LPC, it is crafted as a safe space, a space of hope and respect for the client's personhood and the contexts of their lives. The practice focus is on issues of trauma, depression, anxiety, and gender identity for those aged 14+ and specializes in working with those who identify among the LGBTQ+ communities.

Hello! I'm Lim, a Supervisee in Social Work with a passion for empowering individuals from all walks of life and a particular interest in supporting at-risk youth in navigating challenges around coming of age. My personal experiences have equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by diverse communities. I am committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and empathetic space for clients to explore their mental health and well-being. I believe in a client-centered approach, where we work together to set and achieve your personal goals toward emotional well-being and personal growth.

As a professional, I believe that trust, collaboration, and rapport are important aspects of the therapeutic environment. I strive to be an ally and a collaborator for my clients. I approach counseling with the belief that each individual, couple, and family is different and that everyone needs their own individualized approach to therapy. As a clinician, I would like to assist in facilitating growth and overcoming challenges by providing support and the space to work through any struggles.

I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, incarceration, dissociation, trauma and abuse, PTSD, career challenges, and eating issues. I have a special interest in working with LGBTQIA+ clients with specialized training for supporting transgender clients as well as cult recovery/religious deconstruction. My therapy style is warm, interactive and person centered. I believe everyone has the ability to find healing and you are the expert on you! My role is to support you. It takes courage to reach out and ask for support. That courage will serve you well as you work towards feeling better.

Please note that I am only doing telehealth right now, I do not file insurance claims for clients (but can provide the information needed to do so), my 2024 fee is $175 per session, and I am only licensed to work with Virginia residents.

I am formerly a PreK-5 educator and I bring direct, creative, effervescent, nurturing, and bright energy to sessions.

As a trans, queer, and neurodivergent individual, I understand how difficult it is to navigate challenges related to gender, sexuality, and identity in general. I am passionate about serving anyone who may have been marginalized for who they are and how they exist in the world. I am skilled in issues related to LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly those with a background of spiritual or religious trauma. I particularly enjoy working with young adults and college students on their journeys to develop a sense of self. I hope to support and advocate for my clients as we work to create spaces that are more inclusive and welcoming to all.

Maxine's practice is grounded in curiosity, humility, and an anti-oppression framework. She endeavors to foster dynamic, generative, and trusting relationships with clients wherever they may be in their journey. Clients should expect to be compassionately challenged to cultivate insight, create tangible skills and implement measurable changes to their daily lives with Max's guidance.

Given the climate we find ourselves in, it can be difficult to slow down, to pause. If you feel like you struggle with accessing and processing your emotions, have difficulty with a life event or transition, want to change habits, struggle in relationships, or are uncomfortable in your body, I'm here for you. I work with individual clients ages 3 and up, adults, and couples to explore communication with self and others using mindfulness and evidence-based practices to develop holistic and lasting care. I offer telehealth in all of VA and DC, and in-person sessions are available at my office located in Henrico, VA.
