With a certification in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), I work with caregivers to build skills to increase child compliance to commands and better manage undesired behaviors with children age 2-7.
Hello! I’m excited and grateful to help couples and families find a path towards healing and understanding each other. Strengthening relationships and growing bonds that can withstand life’s hurdles is so important to your mental health. If you’re having trouble talking with your partner, or feel like you’re having the same conversation with no solution, this is the place to start. For Caregivers, if you’re overwhelmed with tantrums and can’t seem to get your child(ren) to listen to you, I can help you build skills to solve those problems.

Individuals dealing with Depression, grief/loss, divorce, co- parenting, career changes.
My focus is to cultivate a safe mutual understanding between the client and myself. I aim to create a trusting relationship that honors respect and strives to build a genuine connection. When you have a sense of community within someone else that you feel you can trust, you will have the vulnerability of opening up and addressing life stressors that created the reason for treatment. From there with that relationship we can work together and be in partnership to address the needs that you have.

Sometimes we need someone objective but relatable to help us see the path forward. Are you smart, educated, and goal-oriented, yet find yourself suffering? Perhaps you are wondering how to move past that same damn argument with your partner. Perhaps you find that when everything is going well, you self-sabotage. Perhaps you're having some trouble forgiving yourself for past mistakes or parenting missteps. It's time to live life the way YOU want. My style is relaxed and non-traditional. Expect to laugh and look forward to therapy, and also make progress that you can be proud of!

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
