You’ve tried so many different ways to cope with the anxiety, the depression, the kid’s problems, your partners issues and still, you have nothing to show for it at this time. You’ve talked to the pediatrician and your primary caregiver and now you're contemplating whether you should take those antidepressants and look for another therapist since the last one didn't seem to understand what things are truly like for you. What you need is an expert who truly knows that it takes to love yourself, to be who you were meant to be. I am confident and guarantee that we can get you to where you want to be.

Together, we can go deep to find the roots of the challenges or we can stay solution-focused and come up with co- parenting plans, family conflict resolutions or learn effective coping strategies for their particular challenges.
People tend to find me at some point on their journey when they need calm and direct guidance. They are usually in a time of deep pain and confusion, whether they are transitioning in life, divorcing, watching their teens struggle, feeling utterly depressed and lost, struggling in relationships or just wanting more out of their lives.

My name is Greg young. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Parent Coach. Over the last 15 years I have worked my hardest to find the simplest ways to assist people moving through their struggles. I have supported countless families, couples, and individuals struggling with crisis, communication difficulties, behavioral issues, shifting toxic dynamics, to last resort interventions. Sometimes reaching out is the hardest part. I am glad you are here! Vulnerability may just be your greatest strength for making the changes you really want to see. I look forward to embarking on this adventure with you!

In addition to helping clients understand and navigate personality disorders, I have special interest in working with teenagers (all sorts), adults navigating personal and spiritual crises, couples seeking to deepen their intimacy, and parenting struggles.
I help people struggling in relationships. I work well with insight-oriented individuals who want to explore their lives on a deep level and explore pathways for growth and change. I specialize in diagnosing and healing relational trauma from Narcissistic and Borderline abuse and helping clients create new narratives about who they are and how they want their lives to be. I believe we can rewrite our story and choose our own ending. My work is depth-oriented and psychodynamic, and I blend insight and intellect with humor (I've found a little lightness can create buoyancy as we navigate dark places).

I work with people of all ages on issues including anxiety, depression, self esteem, grief and loss, addiction, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, parenting, life purpose and vitality.
There are times in our lives when we are presented with challenging circumstances. These experiences can be enormously difficult yet they also provide an opportunity for tremendous growth. The guidance and support of a trusted professional can be vital in regaining a sense of balance and ability to move forward in a positive way. What I have come to understand from my own life and education is that our suffering is often caused by losing connection to ourselves and others. With care and curiosity we can rebuild this sense of connection and foster the change necessary to create a healthy and meaningful life.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
