My experience working with youth in various settings of teaching, counseling, and telehealth, has given me an understanding that Gen Z has their own set of challenges to navigate, different from other generations.

If white knuckling, self shaming, pulling yourself up by your bootstraps and putting on your big girl panties worked, you’d be “cured” a billion times over. It doesn’t. At least not for me or people whose brains are different. Our minds race and it feels impossible to turn off and rest. Sometimes we use substances or other behaviors in a harmful way just to get through the day. There’s more to life out there. A more peaceful and meaningful life is possible. We need to go deeper and get to the root of things. I’ll go with you.

I have a passion for giving the youth we serve a voice and hearing their struggles during this very difficult time in our history. From a very early age, I knew that I wanted to help people find joy and hope during their time on the planet. I strive to see the potential and strengths in every person I have the privilege of serving. I have found my niche serving children as young as 8, adolescents, and young adults up to age 24.

When working with clients I prioritize the therapeutic relationship. We become a team working toward your goals, and I place significant value on honesty, authenticity, humor, compassion, validation, and accountability into our work together. Since starting my counseling practice I have worked with people of all ages and backgrounds experiencing various challenges including but not limited to anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, gender dysphoria, grief, interpersonal issues, life transitions, adoption, self-esteem, bipolar II disorder, and more.

There are multiple approaches we can take to therapy together, whether that is dealing with stressors in the present or processing difficult or traumatic events from the past. We can work to develop better insight and self-compassion, set boundaries and develop healthier relationships, or unpack privilege and learn to be a better ally. I am comfortable and knowledgeable about topics relating to sex and sexuality, sex positivity, poly/non-monogamy, and intersections of identity. I have working knowledge in domestic violence, sexual abuse, sexual offending, and addiction issues.

My goal as a therapist and Clinical Supervisor is to increase your zest and vitality for life, to foster your ability to take action (empowerment), as well as to support you in having clarity (a clearer picture of yourself and others). Each of these goals, I believe, lead to an increased sense of self worth. In my time as a therapist, I have found that growth occurs both individually as well as in connection with others and that growth fostering relationships (of all kinds) that are created through mutual empathy and mutual empowerment are a key aspect of all of our lives.

With a compassionate, genuine, and non judgemental approach, my goal is to see individuals and couples working toward a happier, healthier life. Often, we hold deep beliefs about ourselves and others that do not serve us. Those beliefs can hold us back from achieving our best life. I work to facilitate healing in those who are struggling to find peace with themselves and in their relationships. I believe our relationships affect our lives in nearly every aspect and healthy relationships are born from healthy individuals. I enjoys working with individuals and couples to identify what their goals are and work towards harmony.

Greetings! I'm Chera, and I have focused the scope of my private practice on very specialized (and desperately underserved) groups at high risk of suicidality within our community. Since 2016 I‘ve been helping our veterans/military with PsychArmor training, later realizing no one had the backs of our law enforcement. For this reason, I earned my certification as a first responder counselor and peer support team leader/trainer to provide crisis, cumulative trauma, and emotional agility training for our first responders.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals and couples to help them transform their inner and relational conflicts into opportunities for growth and life change. I come from a depth psychology orientation, which takes into account the unconscious beliefs, attitudes, and self-defeating patterns hidden from everyday awareness that impact our well-being and relationships.
