I am a licensed Psychologist in New York and specialize in Clinical Neuropsychology. My focus is on the evaluation of children/adolescents who display symptoms of a possible learning disability, dyslexia, attentional disorder (e.g., AD/HD), anxiety or other mood disorder, autistic spectrum disorders, processing disorders, developmental disabilities, or executive functioning difficulties.

I provide therapy and psychological evaluation for varied problems, including anxiety, panic disorder, social fears, work stress, depression, PTSD, moodiness, and career indecision. Dr. Plunkett is a pediatric neuropsychologist providing evaluation, consultation, and behavioral therapy. There are many reasons why children are referred for neuropsychological evaluation. Children suspected of having a developmental disorder (e.g., intellectual disability, ADHD, or learning disability) often require evaluation. Children diagnosed with a medical disorder (e.g., epilepsy) or who sustained a head injury may require evaluation for treatment planning. At times children are also referred because they are struggling for unclear reasons and an evaluation is needed to clarify what may be contributing to their presentation.

For over 25 years, I have provided forensic consultation to New York State and Federal courts on criminal, family, and civil matters. Also, I see patients on a regular basis for neuropsychological testing to evaluate the effects of brain trauma, learning disabilities, and ADD on everyday living. She then continued her education at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. There she spent many years under the supervision of Dr. Charles Golden refining her skills in Neuropsychology serving a variety of children with learning disorders and developmental disabilities. After completing graduate school, Dr. Avon pursued further training in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Developmental Disabilities.
