I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have experience working at a college campus counseling center and outpatient clinic in Rochester. I am currently only offering tele-mental health appointments. My therapy is grounded in unconditional positive regard and the perspective that everyone has the ability to discover and implement change.

I am passionate about working with children and adolescents in a way that is developmentally responsive and engaging! My office has a full-size play therapy room with supplies for expressive arts and sand tray therapies as well, so your child has many options when it comes to how they want to express themselves. I work with children, adolescents, and families on a broad range of issues, from life transitions (e.g. divorce, moving) to trauma. Each patient's unique needs dictate the course of therapy, and frequent re-evaluation ensures we are on the right track.

I believe each of us has the ability to heal from emotional wounds and the resulting damage to our sense of self worth. In order to heal, the source of the “original wound/s” must be identified and how these wounds are currently affecting our feelings, choices, and behaviors today. Personal boundaries are often affected and people pleasing/codependent relationships are also common. A willingness to put up with unacceptable and abusive behaviors as well. The first step in healing is in recognizing there is a problem. The next is the willingness to do the hard work. The best work one could ever do.

Hi! My name is Amie and I am a licensed clinical social worker who provides therapy for clients striving to overcome anxiety, depression, trauma and identity issues. I have many years of experience empowering teens to improve family relationships, build positive coping skills and reduce unsafe, oppositional and challenging behaviors. I also have a passion for supporting foster and adoptive families as they build secure attachments and navigate issues unique to to adoption.
