I currently have openings for new clients both during the week and on Saturdays. I have flexibility during weekdays for telehealth. I really enjoy working with teenagers, adults, and couples. Our sessions are always very solutions focused with the focus on helping clients reach their preferred future. My clients appreciate the flexibility and confidentiality of telehealth/virtual sessions. This format also allows me to work with clients all over the state of Missouri.

I specialize in working with individuals (of all ages) who are neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD, OCD, gifted, etc.) and I often work with children and teens who are in foster care or are adopted. I work with people who have trouble regulating emotion. I am skilled in several different types of therapy, however, I have a significant amount of advanced training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Gottman Method couples therapy. I tend to work with people who are experiencing depression, suicidal ideation, self harming behavior, trauma and anxiety. I focus on providing Autism assessments, ADHD assessment and treatment, clinical supervision and marathon therapy. I'm based in LSL now and offer telehealth for people located in Montana. Now enrolling new members for adult and teen DBT groups starting in June!

I specialize in working with young children and adolescents navigating anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, and other challenges. My focus also includes counseling with prenatal/postpartum clients working through the challenges of becoming a new mother, including anxiety and depression. I am passionate about working with mothers who may be experiencing burnout or other challenges that come with the demands of motherhood. My name is Katie Fischer and I am the owner of Stay & Play Counseling, LLC. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist who is passionate about using the power of play to help children through difficult times. I bring over 20 years of experience working with children to my private practice including many years of work in the school setting as an elementary school teacher and school counselor, as well as a therapist in an early childhood setting.

I believe children have an innate ability to grow in a positive direction. The child-therapist relationship is the element that encourages healing, where the child feels safe, supported, and is able to make those changes that lead to growth through exploring self (experiences, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors). When we meet a child's need, rather than focus on the behavior, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom. I focus on possibilities, strengths, and value differences through direct and indirect practices.

I have always said that I wanted to be a safe space for those who have experienced high levels of trauma and never felt as if they had somebody truly in their corner. Whether it be a child who is struggling to make it through the day to day because they feel different because of their life experiences, or an adult who is finally ready to feel the freedom that comes from healing, I desire to be a safe space for that individual. Hello! I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Missouri Baptist University and am a fully licensed therapist. I also currently work as a Director at a non-profit agency, working with youth in the foster care system who have experienced trauma/emotional distress. I have many years experience working with youth who have elevated mental and behavioral health needs (ages 5-20), and working with the family unit as well. I also have experience working with adults, couples, and families.

As a therapist and mother myself, I recognize the impact that children and teens behavioral and mental health concerns can have on them and their families. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, divorce, marital separation, premarital counseling, marriage counseling, sexual issues including addiction, affairs, pornography, abuse and LGBTQ+, grief and other situations that may arise.

As an Art Therapist (ATR), I support the mental health needs of my clients through a balance of traditional therapeutic techniques (such as Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Internal Family Systems, and Person-Centered therapies) and the creative, collaborative, and intuitive approach of Art Therapy. I work with clients from childhood through adulthood. Some people may be surprised to hear that you can do Art Therapy via telehealth, but I've found that being able to engage in therapy from the comfort and safety of your own home can be as healing (if not more) than being in person.

My path to counseling began very young through my own personal experience with loss of life, which lead me to the path to helping others. I understand that missing our loved ones and being depressed is normal, and the key to grieving is to find a way to form a new relationship with the one we lost. In addition, through my collegiate student-athlete experience I understand the delicate balance of being a student-athlete, including the pressures that come along with it.
