Welcome! I provide individual counseling to adults of all ages. With an encouraging and flexible style, my goal is to help clients develop healthy coping mechanisms, enhance self-image and confidence, overcome triggers, make healthy decisions, and improve overall well-being. I often use humor, because humor can be healing. I support clients through life challenges like education and career decisions, stress, burnout, relationships, life transitions, and loss/grief. With experience in supporting clients with life adjustments, depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, and neurodiversity/ADHD, I am also a supportive LGBTQIA+ ally.

CASE LOAD CURRENTLY FULL Most clients come to me by word-of-mouth referrals, but I periodically take on new clients if they are a good fit. My client base is roughly 70% female-identifying and 30% male-identifying, and I respect each client's journey in an allied way. While I have a broad range of experience working with people across the lifespan, what I most enjoy is working with high-achieving adults in the first half of life. I view therapy as an opportunity to grow and evolve, while also mastering the ability to be fully present, whether you are looking for your calling, embodying your identity, or preparing for your next step.

As a human, I know that we all suffer from past traumas and old programs installed by our culture, family or even our own selves. I have also learned the value of having a space to explore those burdens, become curious about where they came from and take the time to assess how they are affecting you in your current life. As a therapist, my goal is to provide you with space to do just that. We can explore the things that weigh you down, learn the lessons they have provided you and work to set them down so you can free up space and energy within yourself so you can create more of what you do want in your life.

I am a Stillwater-based psychologist who provides individual therapy and psychological testing to teens and adults ages 16 and up. Using a relaxed and non-judgmental style, I help people struggling with mood concerns, relationships, work/school stress, life transitions, and trauma. I provide both traditional talk therapy and more specific trauma therapies, such as Brainspotting and EMDR. I also offer supervision and consultation for pre-licensed counselors and psychologists, as well as psychological testing for ADHD and related concerns.

Dr. Kanewischer specializes in marriage and couples therapy and can help you reconnect, change destructive patterns and renew emotional and physical intimacy. Stress of life, loss of trust, or traumas experienced can challenge our marriages. Couples can reconnect and rebuild their partnerships and families in a safe open environment. Specific issues that can be addressed include affairs, communication, parenting, and lack of sexual satisfaction. Dr. Kanewischer also works with individuals and adolescents experiencing anxiety, stress and healing from traumatic events. Therapy is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain insight.

I have over 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have worked with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, parent/child conflict, codependency, life transitions, grief/loss, OCD, ADHD, and personality disorders. I am also an EMDRIA approved EMDR trained clinician.
