Welcome to my practice. I offer comprehensive counseling services to individuals, couples, and relationship configurations of all kinds. Using a collaborative model, I partner with clients to address short and long-term concerns with compassion, understanding, and concrete tools/skills. I can be particularly helpful to those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, the effects of trauma, grief and loss, major life transitions, or interpersonal conflict, as well as those who would like to increase overall well-being and quality of life.

Dealing with loss and grief make up a large part of my practice. I consulted for many years with The Center for Grieving Children around individual and family issues regarding terminal illness and the loss of a loved one. I like working with the interface of therapy and recovery,adult ADD, gender and relationship issues, family of origin issues as they affect the present and concerns around aging.

We can work to uncover what is at the core and driving your distress with a goal of personal transformation or identify other goals of your choosing. I have a special interest in exploring and integrating the lasting impact of spiritual, kundalini, entheogen/psychedelic, and other extreme experiences that are frequently misdiagnosed as mental illness.

Couples who are in crisis and anyone who desires to create a loving, lasting and joyfilled relationship will benefit from my approach which has Imago Relationship Therapy as its foundation. If you are ready for growing in relational maturity, I infuse my couples work with the deeply connecting and life affirming approach of Encounter Centered Couples Therapy. Clients receive a personalized approach as I integrate many therapeutic approaches that are beneficial in supporting the desired healing and growth. I utilize specialized approaches such as clinical hypnosis, DNMS and EMDR, to help with deeper healing when words alone do not provide the desired relief.

There are many paths to healing. My role as a therapist is to determine the approach that will work best for each client and to create the space for healing to occur. I understand the importance of balancing and integrating the emotional self, the thinking self and the physical self and have tools to intervene in each of these dimensions. I believe that for many, a root cause of suffering lies within the context of intimate relationships and that healing primary relationships can create healing within the self.

The world is currently facing unprecedented challenges that can cause an immense amount of mental health stress. I specialize in coercive control, narcissistic abuse, and covert abuse. I have training in CBT and DBT, specializing in understanding behavioral reactions and urges. Ben provides counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families. He has a holistic view of counseling and views wellness as having psychological, physical and spiritual components. He has an eclectic approach with interests in existential, humanistic, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapies. Ben specializes in working with clients with disabilities, both physical and developmental. Ben also has interests in parenting, particularly parents of children with disabilities.

I am a deep believer in the organic unfolding of our growth and purpose, and that we all possess the ability to hear our soul’s calling towards a more authentic and fulfilled life.
