Connected to Lipscomb University's Master's of Marriage and Family Therapy program (the only COAMFTE accredited program in Nashville), we provide high quality mental health care.
Does it feel like life is running you and not the other way around? Are worries and stressors overwhelming you? You can take charge of your life again! I seek to work collaboratively with clients to help them learn new and healthier ways of relating to those around them and gain a greater ability to treat themselves and others with compassion. It takes courage to step into the therapy room; I work to provide a disarming space for clients. My curiosity guides me as I get to know people for who they are and help clients learn to think, feel, and act in new productive ways in order for them to become the people they hope to be.

As a therapist, I believe that growth happens in relationship. Therapy is a collaborative process, and my goal is to provide a safe environment where curiosity, compassion, and connection can forge a path to healing. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist working from an attachment lens and a person-centered approach with a background in trauma and relational issues. I work with individuals and couples and have a particular interest in women's health and maternal mental health including infertility, loss, and navigating the pregnancy and postpartum period, as well as the changing relationship between partners during this time.

I have additional training in Brainspotting and am a certified SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) facilitator.
Have you been feeling stuck lately? When things feel unstable or uncertain, we tend to hide behind protective behaviors that we learn over time. While they serve a function in the present, if we stay there, they can keep us from fulfilling lives and relationships. Whether you’re lost in grief, caught up in an unproductive cycle within your relationships, or struggling to bridge the gap between you and your partner, feeling stuck can be an isolating and lonely experience. My passion is to help individuals and couples break free from the cycles, roles, and patterns keeping them disconnected from others.

In this life there is always something that makes us change. Human nature says that it is love or the loss of something or someone. If you think you need help to achieve your goals or make the necessary changes to be successful, you have to give yourself a chance. During therapy you have the necessary space to talk about the different barriers that are a challenge for you. I work with different people who are going through different personal situations, having challenges with their families, or struggling in their marriage.

I am also trained in Relational Life Therapy, a couples' therapy created by Terry Real (author of "The New Rules of Marriage").
"The Wound is the Place Where the Light Enters You." ~ Rumi~ In one way or another, our souls have been bruised. Depression, anxiety, divorce/relationship issues, trauma, family crisis, & many other issues can slowly chip away at our self-worth, our sense of belonging, our hope. Do you seek a true, raw connection with yourself & others? Are you tired of fighting the "uphill battle" & seek peace in your life? I have no magic wand. I cannot make troubles disappear. I can, however, walk with you & give you the tools to find inner peace & love in the midst of chaos.

I am committed to empowering this couple to embrace their cultural identities, fostering resilience, & equipping them with the necessary tools to not only overcome present obstacles but also embark on a shared path of love, growth, & understanding in their upcoming marital union.
As a clinical therapist, my ideal clients are a couple from a diverse background, particularly within the BIPOC community. Their presenting issues are communication barriers, lack of intimacy and trust, differences in expectations of one another. They have a lot of unresolved conflicts and would like to find a resolution to their situations and problems. They are seeking support and guidance as they navigate the journey of premarital challenges and prepare for married life. They want emotional and physical intimacy, to listen to each other and communicate in a more effective manner.

Clinical interests include marital and pre-marital, couple conflict, anxiety, identifying and understanding reactions, boundaries, pregnancy, postpartum, general relationship issues, forgiveness work, and general self improvement.
I am licensed in both TN and AL. Together we will seek progress, not perfection. My therapy is relaxed and goal centered. I use humor when it allows, as laughter is good for the soul. We all have a longing for attention and responsiveness from our loved ones. When needs go unmet, we get stuck in patterns of automatic responses. I want client's to recognize needs, take responsibility, and learn how to better disrupt unhealthy patterns. My desire is to help you gain awareness and be more present with yourself and other people in your life.

I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional who specializes in treating trauma using EMDR with a background in marriage and family therapy. Additional EMDR training allows me to specifically help performers reach peak performance and work past mental blocks or "yips". Post-EMDR areas of growth may include identity formation, boundaries, and communication skills. Overall, I want my clients to be equipped to pursue a healthy, productive lifestyle. Using an integrative approach, I help clients increase self-efficacy by educating them on health practices they control that positively impact their mental wellbeing.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
