You might be looking for some guidance because... Your marriage is not working, not how you want it to be. You feel disconnected from your spouse, you try hard to make them happy but nothing works. You're tired of all the fighting and disconnection and are worried it could all end soon. You may also feel overwhelmed with work and money, trying to provide a good life for your family and just feel no matter how hard you work, you can’t seem to get to where you want to be. You feel alone. You feel like you have a mask on, trying to put on a happy face. You're drained and hoping someone can help you turn things around.

About me: As a man with rural roots and a family to support, I have worked as a general contractor, trucker, oil field hand, schoolteacher, horse trainer, working cowboy and, most currently, a psychotherapist.
I am now in my thirteenth year as a counselor and have experience treating an array of mental health issues such as PTSD, Depression Anxiety, ADHD etc. What I excel at most, because of my life experience and knowledge is: couples counseling and helping people make life changing transitions (out of church, job, marriage etc).

As we navigate this hu man experience, it would seem that the only thing we can count on is change. Change can come in the form of major life adjustments such as employment, death and loss, deployments, school, being pushed outside of our comfort zone, as well as a variety of other circumstances that can turn our world upside down. What is important to remember is that you are not alone, and there is support to help you navigate through these challenging times. I am here to support you on this journey, and allow you to find solace and closure where needed.

Counseling is an enjoyable process! I am not saying that it can't be hard or emotional, only that the process and results can be life-changing. I love working with people from a compassionate and even humorous standpoint, because I figure that if you can't laugh at life, it can be a miserable experience! I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor. I specialize in working with individuals of all ages and walks of life who have been through trauma, struggle with depression, anxiety, and much more. My goal is to help clients get back to living a whole and peaceful life

As a therapist I have a front-row seat to hu man suffering, but I also see the resilience and positive qualities that allow suffering to be transcended.
If you have an eating disorder or other mental health challenge, reaching out for help can be one of the hardest and best choices you can make. So many of us feel alone in our modern world filled with technology that disconnects us. The challenges of daily living can feel overwhelming, but there is a path forward. Counseling can offer hope in the form of a changed view of yourself and your situation, providing increased confidence and tools to break through barriers. Your past doesn't have to continue to define you, and you can replace your shame with compassion. We can work together to understand and address your pain and distress.

I've overcome many struggles in my life and know how it feels to lose hope for a better life.
I believe that each person has the potential to live the life they truly want and that lasting change is possible. As a strengths-based therapist, I help a client find their strengths are built on and utilized in therapy to help the client work through the difficulties they are experiencing. I create a space where you can tell me anything without fear of judgment or me telling you how you should live life. Therapy is an interactive process and it shouldn’t look the same for each person. I love helping people build their confidence and becoming more assertive. I want to help you build the skills to live your life to the fullest!

All of us can benefit form having someone in our life to help navigate the many stressors that seem to come at the most inopportune times.
I love being a therapist and being able to join others on their journey through the challenges that life places before us. Whether it is depression, anxiety, relationship issues, work or family stresses, just dealing with life in general; I love to help. One of my greatest passions is being able to help others restore hope and value to their lives and assist them in finding peace in a world that can at times feel dark or completely upside down. Being able to help normalize the mental health challenges we all face and work through them together.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
