I enjoy listening to your narrative and find ways to create change.
My motto is “If it costs you your peace, it is too expensive”. You may be looking for ways to reduce fear, sadness, and trauma responses but are unsure where to start. You might also want to find a therapist willing to walk alongside your spiritual journey. I want to help you find that deep peace and help you find ways to continue working on that life.

For client's looking for a therapist who brings many years of clinical experience, who believes in collaboration, empathy, and basing treatment and diagnosis on a thorough client history, a strong background in CBT, couples therapy, trauma therapy, and narrative therapy, I would invite a consultation to determine if we can build meaningful treatment vision.
I have a great deal of experience working with clients who struggle to regulate their emotions in many contexts. I have a broad array of experience working successfully with clients struggling with relationships, trauma, as well as anger, depression and anxiety.

Life can feel overwhelming. We live in a world full of uncertainty and upheaval. But our world also contains hope and possibility. If you have been struggling with stress, fear and worries, sadness and grief, or needing to heal in any way, therapy can help. During our time together I will work with you to foster a brave, safe space to explore your needs and goals, whether they are related to processing experiences from your past, navigating current areas where you might feel stuck, or identifying potential areas of growth. I approach my practice with warmth, compassion, understanding, wisdom, and a sense of humor.

I believe that psychotherapy is a collaborative process in which a safe and welcoming space is co-created. This space allows room to supportively explore-with curiosity and self-compassion-the patterns of interaction, behavior, and thoughts that might no longer serve their purpose. I am an accomplished clinician with over 15 years of direct experience. I began my professional career in San Francisco and have since relocated back to my roots in central Massachusetts. I have worked successfully with many clients with a diversity of backgrounds, experiences, strengths, challenges, and coping strategies.

I applaud you for considering therapy, as it can be a challenging decision and may invoke a variety of feelings. You may have experienced a traumatic event or series of events that continue to impact your life, you may be exploring your identity and personal belief systems, or you may be experiencing complex emotions that you'd like support in processing. I am passionate about working with trauma survivors, especially those within the LGBTQ community. Trauma is complex and unique to each survivor.

I am a skilled clinician with nearly two decades of experience working with children, teens and adults. At the center of my work, is a focus on nurturing self-awareness, self-compassion and self-regulation, which I believe are gifts we all possess, regardless of age. I place a strong emphasis on meeting you where you’re at, letting therapy be a process that is on your terms. I invite you to engage in open communication by using curious inquiry and reflective listening. In doing so I offer you, and your loved ones if they’re involved, the time and space to safely explore beliefs and learned behavior that may no longer serve you.

Our mental and emotional health is so important. Especially these days. Very simply... talking about things helps us. Talking to a professional about our thoughts, ideas, concerns, and hopes can help to make sense of things we feel do not always make sense.

Starting therapy may bring up a lot of thoughts and feelings, and your decision to seek therapy shows a commitment to living your best life. I believe in my work that restoring relationships with ourselves and our loved ones can help navigate the difficult times we live in. Finding freedom from worry and depression is work, but you are not alone on this journey. You may also be exploring your sexual or gender identity and looking for additional support. Your curiosity and interest in exploring these issues will help you succeed in reaching your goals for your best life.

Many people who have experience in therapy remain puzzled as to why they find it so difficult to change even after learning about the dynamics of their emotional suffering. Thinking processes can only take us so far and often are unable to instigate a deep psychological shift. Unconscious processes, even brought into the light, will resist attempts to think them away. Imagination and the body are the home of the subconscious. It is in that world, that real and lasting change can transpire. Together we will attempt to get close and "withstand" conflicts of the mind rather than "understand" them.

I utilize a mix of narrative, CBT/DBT, and other techniques to best serve those in need.
I find passion in helping clients find their sense of self and cultivate their identity. Folks looking to change and grow, get a handle on their anxieties or manage depression, or those wanting to improve their self-appreciation are those I feel honored to serve. In particular, I hope to help Queer folks on their own journeys - whether that be transition/identity exploration, relationship challenges, or otherwise!

I also practice narrative and solutions focused therapy.
My mission is to help my clients better understand who they are, what they want from this life, and how to move towards a more integrated self. My alternative style of therapy blends traditional talk therapy with non-traditional therapeutic methods such as nature therapy, mindfulness-based practices, music, art, movement, and nature-based groups. I have found both personally and professionally that nature, creative expression, and physical activity set the stage for healing and growth, and I enjoy incorporating these elements into my therapeutic approach.

My practice is informed by psychodynamic, narrative, and trauma-informed approaches.
As a therapist, I work to understand how each person’s particular struggles and stuckness come about. Our struggles, as well as our stories, emotions, and values, have a lot to teach us. I believe that we each know something about how to heal, and we can access the strongest, most creative parts of ourselves through authentic and safe relationships. I can help you explore patterns in your emotions, stories, and relationships, and find energy to shift your habits toward what is most meaningful and important to you.

Some of the approaches I use include CBT, DBT, Somatic interventions, narrative therapy, and holistic therapy.
I feel that everyone has a story and they need to relate that story as to how it has helped or hurt them. I want to hear your story and how that situation has influenced your life. Sometimes looking at your story from a different viewpoint will change your life. My therapeutic approach depends on the problem being addressed.

Leaning on Narrative and Collaborative dialogue, I invite the people I work with to consider their unique experience that they bring to our conversations.
My practice is: Queer/ Trans-affirming, Neurodiversity-affirming, Body positive, Fat positive, Sex positive, Kink-affirming, and Poly/Non-Monogamy-affirming. I work with individuals and relationships. I like to establish up front that I am a safe person to correct, call-out, interrupt, disagree and argue with. It will not impact our therapeutic relationship. You are the expert of your own life.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
