**I AM CURRENTLY FULL. MY WAITLIST IS CURRENTLY CLOSED** Working with trauma clients can be rewarding as well as difficult. Many of our clients reach a point where they can talk about their trauma but are still plagued by symptoms. Medication can help reduce symptoms. Skills building can further help. Unfortunately for some clients these interventions cannot stop the symptoms from recurring. It can leave you and your client feeling that progress has stalled. This is where Collaborative EMDR can help.

Whether you're feeling depressed, anxious, hopeless, or irritable, making that first call for help can be hard. You desperately want to feel better, but you're afraid of what it will be like to share your thoughts with a therapist. I understand. My guiding principles are respect, appreciation of differences, and a balance between acceptance and change. I listen carefully and center the therapy around your needs.

Lastly, I work with women that have pre- and post-partum depression, anxiety, OCD, psychosis.
To be human is to have joy and struggle. Without struggle, we know not joy. That being said, sometimes when people make every effort to do their best, they still have hard times in life for many reasons. Sometimes people seek out a professional counselor for help with mental health issues, substance abuse issues or other aspects of life that are difficult to manage alone. Hopefully, by engaging in counseling you will get help in developing and meeting your individual goals and finding solutions to many facets of life that have been difficult, e.g., anxiety, depression, substance abuse, life transitions, etc.

I offer evidence-based, client centered, treatments delivered with compassion, humor and intelligence. My job satisfaction comes from seeing large changes in my clients over a short period of time. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and include elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Art Therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a psychosocial intervention that is the most widely used evidence-based practice for improving mental health. Guided by empirical research, CBT focuses on the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems and changing unhelpful patterns in cognitions (e.g. thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes), behaviors, and emotional regulation.

I believe in therapy YOU are the Expert of YOU and I am here to provide you the tools, skills and resources to help achieve your goals. The Dictionary defines the word CRISIS as; “a time when a difficult or important decision must be made.” That is where therapy comes in. We all go though some type of crisis in our life and having support to work through and handle that crisis makes the process that much easier. My job as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is to provide a safe space to help you explore yourself, develop new perspectives, and guide you through the crisis you may face in your life.

Are you finding yourselves falling into the same arguments over and over again? Do you attempt to avoid conflict by walking on eggshells, isolating from each other, or not talking about what needs to be addressed until another “blow-up” happens? Even when you both are in the same space, does it feel like you're miles apart? Are you both feeling lonely, frustrated, and really missing each other? I help couples just like you increase connection, intimacy, and directly communicate with each other about what truly matters.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
