My training is in psychodynamic psychotherapy. However this is only short-hand for working with you in a deep and resonant way. I primarily work with adults and children but also treat dyads (parents and their children, friends, and couples). We will take into account the ways your past has shaped the present. While, at the same time concentrating on how you are living life now in relation to your family, your friends, your workplace, your community, and of course your innermost self.
I believe that the pertinent issues of one’s life can come alive in a therapeutic relationship. The dynamic that emerges between us will help with dynamics outside the therapy room. There is no cookie cutter or one size fits all approach. Each therapy is its own model that we create together.
I am also interested in thinking ‘socio-psychoanalytically’. Taking into account the historical, political and cultural locations within which we live. In other words, we approach life as it is lived, a mix of the intricacies of emotional life with the complexities of the social surround.
