Life brings us a range of experiences that can evoke feelings of joy, excitement, and happiness, where we feel as though we are on top of the world, to those that bring more discomfort including sadness, despair, anger, or uncertainty. As we traverse through our lives, it is without question, we will feel the full range of these emotions. When life does become more uncomfortable or unmanageable, therapy can assist us in finding ways to move through these moments by building resilience and coming out on the other side with grace and a better sense of ourselves.
As a practicing therapist for the past 16 years, I have come to discover that the nature of change or evolving requires a warm and nurturing environment where clients can feel safe and understood in being able to work through their current challenges.
I have found great benefit in taking a stance of unconditional positive regard for clientele that allows for vulnerability without judgement and self-empowerment without second guessing. Theoretically, I lean towards solution focused strategies as well as cognitive (thought) restructuring. e.
