Do you ever get the feeling you might need some support, but aren’t sure where to start or wonder if what you’re going through is “big enough” for therapy? The truth is, you don’t need to wait until life feels overwhelming to reach out. Therapy can be a place to sort through old experiences that still linger, find clarity during life transitions, or simply have a space that’s just for you.

I work with individuals from all walks of life who may have concerns about not having the experience of being felt with and by others, navigating the balance of intimacy and agency in relation to others, and understanding their internal world more richly. I enjoy practicing from a psychoanalytic framework rooted in the body as I find it gives individuals an opportunity to come in genuine contact with themselves. Fundamental to my approach is the belief that who we are — our sense of self and how we move in the world — is immensely shaped by our unique temperaments and early life imprints for experiencing.

It is human to struggle, to feel at times we have lost our way. To feel sad, stuck, angry, or afraid. Life can be hard and achingly beautiful. It is rich with complexity and it is sacred. We all need support in navigating life’s challenges and in slowing down. To take the time to be with the tender parts of ourselves that are longing for love and care. In a culture that privileges constant doing and achievement, it can be empowering and healing to cultivate a sense of inherent worth and value. To take time to play and create and to feel into experiences of wonder and awe, to truly enjoy the pleasures of being alive.

My sessions are geared toward helping patients change in ways which will enhance their lives. By understanding the obstacles to change helps to build conscientious strategies which we together can employ. I am a stronge proponent of necessary out of office experiences "homework" which requires my patients to be aware of their emotional reactions which block new behaviors. In other words, greater awareness must take place outside of our sessions as well as within. I believe in handing patients the reigns to their own lives as I believe therapy must be about empowerment throughout all stages of adult life.

I believe that meaningful growth begins with open-mindedness, collaboration, & a non-judgmental attitude. In my practice, I offer a welcoming & accepting space where clients can safely explore their thoughts, emotions, & behaviors. Together, we build a steady & trusting therapeutic relationship—one grounded in curiosity, compassion, & self-reflection.
I believe active parental involvement is crucial. When working with children I require at least 1 hour-long parent session per month. No one knows your child better than you, & I believe that when therapist & parent(s) work together, meaningful change can truly take place.

I want to help people discover, think about, give meaning to, and find compassion for, alienated parts of themselves that are repressed and forbidden, containing unmet needs, historic conflicts, and unfulfilled dreams. Reunion with these parts can help people better understand their current behaviors, thoughts, and feelings and develop options for changing old patterns in their relationships with themselves, partners, and work that were once effective defenses against psychological pain. Therapy helps us become more fully alive, creative, connected to others, and free to be ourselves with less, and perhaps more realistic, fear-- individually, in our families, cultures, and society.

You want to feel more connected — in your relationship, in your daily life, and within yourself. Maybe you're stuck in the same arguments or feel like your partner just doesn't see you. Maybe you're carrying anxiety, grief, or disconnection that's hard to name but impossible to ignore. I'm here to tell you — you're not broken, and it doesn’t have to stay this way. You're overwhelmed, tired, and ready for something to shift. You want more than just coping; you want real change, deeper love, and a more grounded sense of who you are.

People who see me have a variety of concerns: gaining self-awareness, anxiety/depression, relationship concerns and more. I think therapy can be very powerful in discovering our true selves and what we want out of life.

People go through many phases of life, all of which can present unique challenges and opportunities for growth and change. Therapy can help individuals transform their lives and relationships, and gain a deeper awareness which can lead to a healthier mind and body.

My practice is founded on the principle that therapy is not about fixing something that is broken. You are not broken. People do not need to be fixed.

What if you didn’t have to be the one holding everything together? The anxiety, burnout, and quiet resentment you carry don’t have to be yours alone.
Many of us were taught to push through, stay strong, or hide our feelings. Therapy can be a place to finally set that weight down.
I offer a safe and compassionate space where you can show up as your full, complex self - the strong, uncertain, hurting, and above all, deeply human.

When you are feeling depressed or anxious, you have a real reason to want to be heard. You communicate through words and body language. A child communicates through play and art. Whichever way you communicate, I am dedicated to hear what you have to say and gain a real understanding of what is going on. Together, we can explore your uniqueness and find strength in that. Whether it is a family issue or a personal one, taking care of yourself is a priority. I believe that the basic foundation of therapy is a good relationship between therapist and client.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
