Hello, I'm Naomi "Alix" Burke. I provide a safe space to process the fears that hold you back from living your most authentic life and will help you soothe and comfort the wounded parts of yourself that act out in fear to stop you from being fully you. We'll talk about how your less authentic behaviors are your way of trying to protect yourself from pain or rejection and discuss whether these protective measures are still necessary in your current situation. My goal is to help you develop more compassion, gentleness and love towards yourself.

Life is a journey and sometimes we may need a little help along the way. On life's journey we may experience anxiety, depression, grief or trauma which me may lead us feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, fearful or angry. Sometime we may need someone to walk beside us on the journey to assist in overcoming and healing from life's ups and downs.

Life is a series of transitions - some peaks and some valleys. I find these valleys often are a result of internal conflict and external events or pressure. I believe that we all have an authentic self and much of the internal conflict comes from living inauthentically, which develops into maladaptive behaviors. There’s “the way it seems” and “the way it is,” and sometimes we all need someone to remind us of “the way it is.” That’s where I come in - my goals are to work TOGETHER with you to navigate a new path toward living your most authentic life and finding inner peace and confidence to be that person.

Karyn's journey has allowed her to work in diverse settings including private practice, clinics, school-based interventions, and substance abuse counseling. Karyn has an easy going, warm, yet firm counseling style that gets results Families benefit from her approach which de-emphasizes the "identified patient" construct which leads to a more harmonious family dynamic. In couples therapy, Karyn creates a safe environment in which to open up about the hidden hurts in the relationship.
