Therapy can provide a safe space for individuals to explore vulnerable dimensions of oneself and explore meaning in life’s experiences. Therapy with me is rooted in relationship. I understand that value of a trusting, authentic relationship between therapist and client, and I offer insight, support, compassion, and curiosity in a nurturing way that allows clients to examine patterns that both aid or hinder individuals’ potential for wholeness. I work from a depth-oriented, psychodynamic framework, understanding that one’s self is a manifestation of one’s whole life experiences. I provide both short and long term therapy.

We try to make sense of our lives through telling our stories, but when we are unable to find the words, we express ourselves in other ways, such as in symptoms, dreams, and behaviors that we don't understand. My previous training in fine arts and filmmaking (MFA, USC School of Cinema) make an excellent fit with the type of in-depth therapy I provide. I have a wide range of professional experiences from my private practice, in residential and outpatient clinics, as an adjunct professor of psychology at Antioch University, and as a supervisor training other therapists.

Do you need support finding your life’s purpose? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you find it difficult to feel pain and face your shadows? While considering the whole person- heart, soul, mind and body, I trust that you enter therapy having the insight you need to navigate your distress. I use the term "depth emergence" to explain my orientation and approach. It stems from depth psychology, which emphasizes gaining access to the unconscious and bringing it into consciousness. While increasing awareness we derive meaning, evolve, and transform.

Happiness in life is dependent upon relationships - the relationship with yourself, your partner, your children - and the other significant, albeit difficult, people in your life. The bulk of my practice has focused on this very specialized area of interacting with other people. Whether doing discernment counseling with a couple contemplating divorce, working with couples to discuss and workout seemingly intractable issues----as well as mediation services for divorcing couples, relationships are the foundation of contentment and I have experienced a great deal of success with clients in this area.

From the outside, you appear to have it all together… Yet on the inside, you may feel like you're barely holding it together. You may feel stuck in a relationship, a job, or your own life. Hi, I'm Seema. I help clients of all ages learn to set boundaries, voice what they want and need, and work on self-esteem issues. My clients come to me for many issues, ranging from depression, anxiety, relationships, chronic dating, family issues, dissociative disorders, to painful childhoods. I strive to create an alliance where we work together so you can freely explore anything that's on your mind and transform into your ideal future self.

My roots as a therapist and healer have seeded over the past thirty-five years, bringing substance and depth to my one-on-one sessions with couples and individuals. During this time, I have maintained a private practice, which has always consisted of process-oriented consciousness work -- a means by which to enter safely and deeply into the inner landscape of the psyche for positive and real world change. My results-oriented approach to psychology is derived from the commitment to a conscious process and the intrapsychic relationship one can access when choosing to turn toward--and look at--oneself.

I’m here to help you creatively navigate your challenges and feel more at home in your life. Your experience of therapy will be uniquely your own. Our work together can focus on specific goals or it can be exploratory and non-linear. While talking will usually be a large part of therapy, we may also include writing, reflective exercises, meditation practices, story telling, role playing, therapeutic touch, and art making. As we work together, we'll continue to discover what approaches work best for you. I offer therapy over the phone, also known as remote therapy, to accommodate challenges you may have with coming to my office.

Most of us struggle with habitual reactions to life’s challenges — from doubt or guilt to shame or frustration. These responses are built-in, long-established parts of ourselves that we put in place to guard and protect ourselves but that are, ultimately, unsustainable and can be damaging. I want to help you get in touch with and untangle those reactions — those parts — so that you can live a freer life with a more fully-realized sense of self.

This is about you, your life, your relationships, and what is important to you. We can enhance your life, and I am honored to partake in that process. We all are bound by certain factors out of our control, our genes, our parents, upbringing etc. However, amid that construct, we can choose to be who we want to, and I can help with that endeavor. I love therapy, and I love being a therapist. I'm inspired by anyone who wants to change some aspect of themselves or their life.

Jungian Therapists

How does Jungian therapy work?

Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?

Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?

According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?

Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
