Establishing a collaborative working relationship with clients to help them achieve their therapeutic goals in a safe non judgmental atmosphere is my number one priority. Assisting my clients to find their own path and achieve post traumatic growth is not only possible but also rewarding. My special interests include domestic violence, betrayal trauma, grief and loss, and life transitions due to aging, divorce, empty nests, reentry to college or the workforce.

Are you uncertain about your relationship or sex life? You may feel disconnected from your partner, wondering if you can make it work after infidelity. You are realizing you just want to feel better, one way or another. It’s time. Doing work on your relationship takes some grit and most people wait too long. I'll roll up my sleeves with you and be your guide. When relationships grow stagnant or negative, we suffer. Learn to find healthy ways to communicate and create authentic connection.

I'm so glad you are considering counseling! Personal growth work is some of the most rewarding work you'll ever do. I typically work with women wanting to feel better about themselves and their relationships, to improve the day to day chaos, anxiety and stress, to let go of negative patterns and to heal past traumas. I also work with young adults to improve academic/work stress, anxiety, relationships and coping with transitions. We all benefit from learning to take care of ourselves in a deeper, more impactful way. I'd be happy to help you work towards the happier, more balanced life that you long for!

For over forty years I've helped people heal their emotional wounds. If you grew up in a dysfunctional family, the traumatic effects of that environment, such as anxiety, depression, anger, and relationship problems, are with you to this day. To have the fully functioning life you want, it is essential to recover from the neglect, abuse, and lack of parental attunement from which you may have suffered in your early years. I'll collaborate with you to help you understand how your past affects your present, and how you can make the changes you need to improve your life and relationships.

As an integrative practitioner, I meet clients where they are at in life. Healing and wellness is part of our life journey, and reaching out to others is often a necessary part of the healing process. Life hands us tough challenges, these are not meant to break us, rather to help us define who we are and better understand what our journey means. Often times we feel like we are broken, or simply don't fit in; these are opportunities to intentionally explore whether we are living our authentic life, or trying to follow someone else's path.

Life can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and the world around us, which can lead to difficult feelings like fear, sadness, shame, and confusion. Therapy provides space to explore and understand barriers to connection and to identify how to address them.

I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and couples who are dealing with trauma and different life stressors. All clients present with different strengths and struggles so I know that no single approach will fit for every individual. My passion is in being able to bring clients an experience in therapy where they find empowerment, healthier perceptions of themselves and ability to strengthen relationships. I have been trained in Gottman method, emotionally focused therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
