I received my Bachelors in Social Work from Goshen College before obtaining my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. I am a seasoned therapist whose experience working in a variety of settings has equipped me to feel comfortable treating diverse populations, diagnoses, and issues. These include both adolescents and adults struggling with Depression, Anxiety, Grief/Loss, Trauma, Anger, Addictions, Substance Abuse, Relationship issues, Personality Disorders, Bipolar, Self-harm, Suicidal Ideations, Stress, or simply needing some support through current situations.

I provide affirming, nonjudgmental therapy to people of all ages. I enjoy working with individuals who are mindful and self reflective, and are looking for someone to help them connect with their feelings and explore new perspectives. I view counseling as a partnership between myself, the client, and their family/support system. I have experience working with individuals, groups, and family/marital therapy. In addition to working with depression, anxiety, stress management, and relationship skills, I have experience with personality disorders, and trauma healing; particularly women who have abuse in their history and are currently experiencing distress in relationships, re-victimization, and/or substance use. My name is Samantha Wright-Cooksey, MSW, LCSW. I have been a therapist for over 20 years with combined experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. I have provided professional services in outpatient, home, community and school-based settings. I have worked in addictions as well as end of life issues. I utilize strength-based and solution focused techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and problem solving skills training.
