I believe that healing can occur within the context of a trusted relationship. I work with adults and families to help people better understand the things that are getting in the way of living a full, productive, and satisfying life. That could be a child’s struggle with emotional regulation, a parent’s difficulty with triggering behaviors or understanding how to manage challenging moments, or an adult who struggles to develop and sustain intimate relationships.

The world can be a frightening, difficult place, and we all need a safe place where we can feel seen, valued, and appreciated for who we are. My practice is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with a client centered base. I believe that a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of all change. I have and still do work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds and with diverse presenting concerns.

Working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families involves a collaborative process involving all of the individuals who help a child develop, including relatives, school staff, pediatricians, and other therapists. It also involves creating a positive, upbeat, and energetic setting to foster growth and development. Utilizing techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including mindfulness, my treatment paradigm involves evidence-based practices for a wide range of behavioral and emotional issues. I believe therapy should be proactive and not reactive, and that it must focus on strengths and not just weaknesses.

I work to create a warm and welcoming space for clients to bring their full selves without judgement. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what each client needs, including relational psychotherapy, mindfulness practice, trauma-informed care, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients identify and work towards the changes they want to see within themselves and their relationships. I believe that building a supportive relationship with each client is at the foundation for growth and healing in therapy.

I have dedicated my practice to supporting children and families impacted by conflict, developmental, neurological, and relational issues. I have a great love and unique gifts working with young children - toddlers through 8-year-olds. I specialize in neuropsychological and psychological assessment across the lifespan, with a focus in pediatric and adolescent health. I have several years of experience with identifying and clarifying various diagnoses including developmental delays, ADHD, learning disabilities, autism, impulse control issues, medical comorbidities, and mood disorders.

My professional training in various theories and models led me to reflect on my beliefs about human nature, how problems develop within people, and their capacity to change. Taking an Adlerian approach allows me to counsel through my core beliefs: society/the dominant culture’s oppressive ways impact people and therefore a shift to a more egalitarian society needs to occur; with empathic, compassionate, and culturally responsive support, people can change, grow, and improve their lives for both self and social interest; and with culturally responsive education and support, society can do better with each other and for each other.

Most of my work is assessment and therapy. I love working with children and their families where the family dynamics may be creating some stress within the family system. I enjoy the process of getting children and families engaged in therapy and working together to identify the values of the children and their families. Clients who are looking to strengthen their family bonds and develop their family unit are some of my favorite things to work on. Much of my interest and experience has been around bullying and trauma, and I greatly enjoy being a part of the growth my clients make while addressing these issues.

We treat a range of clientele. Our pediatric clinicians are passionate about providing warm, effective and creative treatment for children and adolescents, helping them with challenges associated with anxiety, self esteem, anger, social skills, and identify development. We also work with adult individuals and couples looking to improve relationships, develop healthy boundaries and process one time or complex trauma. Our ideal client is interested in examining how their own histories might be impacting their current behaviors, while learning practical tools and strategies to help themselves in their present life.

There is so much about life and living, loving and losing than we can possibly understand. Whatever philosophical ideas we hold, there is so much that remains unknowable. Because it resonates with my own respect for and curiosity about the mystery of being alive, my clinical practice is informed by existential thinking. Why is this happening? How can I survive? What does it mean? These are the questions underlying our reactions to and feelings about our lives.
