Too often psychotherapy focuses on causality, pathology and cures. However, rather than being "sick" or 'broken", often we are just lost inside ourselves or relationships. Everyone is a unique person with their own story, experience and perspective. The goal of therapy is to achieve a deeper awareness of where we are, to discover internal meaning for our many experiences, and to experience a life worth living. While working towards that awareness, I feel that it's also important to teach healthier coping skills to assist in dealing with the anxiety and day to day stressors that bring individuals to therapy.

After 25 years in the corporate world, I love being a therapist! I came to this work to be authentic, direct, and conversational. I get that it feels weird to tell some stranger what’s bothering you… or worse the things you feel like you are screwing up. Often my clients tell me that after only the first session, they sleep better and finally feel like they aren’t floating or worse drowning in feelings they don’t know how to process. That is what I do. We’re going to address that and yes, I’ll be direct with you if there’s things you can change. I don’t have all the answers but together we can find ways to make things better.

My psychodynamic training means I have experience listening in a specific way that invites us, together, to discover and make meaning out of the experiences in life. I believe therapy is oriented at finding out something about you with you. Many of the struggles we experience are caused by responding to new life circumstances using past life experiences. During therapy we move with curiosity, exploring perspectives. We experiment giving ourself permission to feel deeper in an effort to bring focus to the present while honoring our past for brining us to this moment.
