I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families manage the stressors associated with having children. I focus on all phases of the process including infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy, pre/post-partum emotional struggles, partner relationship issues, and decisions regarding returning to work. In addition to pre/postnatal clients, I also specialize in anxiety, depression & life transitions. With all clients, I prioritize the importance of understanding where each individual is at in his/her own journey & work toward helping each person realize his/her own best self.

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Art and Yoga Therapist practicing in the Chicago Area. I work to provide a safe and collaborative space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in order to facilitate meaningful change in your life. The root of my work is assisting others to discover, strengthen, and grow inner peace. If you feel grounded in yourself, it's so much easier to ride out the obstacles - big and small - that life throws at you. I believe the process of change is not a straight line or one-size-fits-all model.

Dr. Margret O'Reilly received a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adler University-Chicago, (August 2014), an APA accredited program. She earned her M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Art Therapy from Adler University in (August 2009) and trained at The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Primary Care Psychology Associates where she worked in collaboration with Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group Pediatrics, and Adult Internal Medicine in Chicago, IL.

And it can certainly feel like it's a YOU problem, when really, you may be responding the best you know how to an unsupportive environment.

It is my goal to provide you with a safe, therapeutic space to unload and explore your needs, worries, and fears whatever they may be. The path to healing is unique for each of us. I specialize in supporting people who have experienced trauma, whether this be a single event, or repeated or chronic experiences throughout their childhood or life. I also work with people who having difficulties managing their mood (e.g. experiencing depression or anxiety) and understanding the role of experiences in shaping their sense of self and identity. I can work with people to process hard life experiences, creating a space to be heard or challenged, but also to develop practical skills to better cope with their difficulties (e.g. improving motivation, managing anxiety, reducing "unhelpful coping" such as substance misuse).

As a therapist, I work collaboratively with my clients in processing their experiences and finding healthy and productive ways to solve problems as well as gain insight into the reasons for maladaptive behaviors. In the treatment process, I encourage clients to formulate their own treatment goals and we will work together to find ways to achieve these goals via modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, Solutions-focused interventions. I see my role as one of support, guidance, active listening, and empowering the client to develop positive coping mechanisms in the process of making changes to thoughts and behaviors.

I want you to have a safe, nonjudgmental, and collaborative space for connecting you with the best version of you. I work with adults who have experienced trauma and who may be dealing with PTSD. I also work with those dealing with the difficulties of eating disorders, anxiety, depression and life transitions. My primary goal is help you feel better quickly, therefore I spend time getting to know you so we can set goals and work on reaching them.

All families experience difficulties, however when emotional and behaviors cause conflicts seeking support can sometimes be difficult and intimidating. My experience working with families provide me with the expertise to help families find ways to best meet the family and individual needs. I have experienced working with school age children and adolescents. I also have experience with working with adult and families who are survivor(s) of sexual trauma and or domestic abuse/violence. I also have experience with working with adults who experience anger difficulties, anxiety and depression. I am also fluent in Spanish.

I have experience working with all ages: children, adolescents, young adults, families, and couples; and with those presenting with anxiety, depression, PTSD, CPTSD, developmental disorders, and chronic mental illness, among others.
