I am of the thought that we come into the world a blank slate upon which our experiences are written. What is written is sometimes harmful and may manifest as trauma, abandonment, neglect, etc. Those environmental messages often become unresolved emotional issues carried through life and into relationships. I go beyond the presenting symptoms to identify the root problems. I share my clinical impressions and propose an individualized plan. My treatment approach is generally cognitive-behavioral therapy.

I believe in a holistic approach to therapy and provide full-spectrum and client-specific treatment in a warm and non-judgmental setting. Most of us lead complicated and stressful lives and often find ourselves unable to cope with the many challenges facing us on a daily basis. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy and draw from various therapeutic approaches to address the unique needs of each client. I also incorporate mindfulness, breathing, and meditation into sessions when it is appropriate for dealing with stress, anxiety, and related issues.

Accepting new clients. Many scientists are rethinking the belief that depression and anxiety are caused by dysregulation of brain chemistry. The cause, they think, is adversity, and it can be better treated by therapy that teaches people how to deal with their circumstances. That adversity takes many forms – narcissistic, abusive, inattentive or addicted parents, traumatic events, and childhood bullying are all examples. I use evidence-based practices that will produce the improvements you want in your life. You and I will find and address your distress. My approach is to strike a balance between being empathic and directive.

I'm a clinician who is dedicated to creating a warm, safe, and enriching environment for my clients. I understand everyone’s therapy journey is unique and I strive to ensure all of my clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Therapy is space for you to explore your talents and strengths, identify barriers, and learn new approaches to cope with stressors. Most people underestimate the skills and strengths they possess. I believe by empowering and highlighting skills a client already has allows the foundation for new coping strategies to be built. Life can be challenging and I believe nobody should ever feel alone on their journey.

I believe in taking a warm, nonjudgmental, collaborative approach to therapy; I truly believe that you are the expert of your experience and I am here as a coach to help support you in reaching your goals. I approach therapy as both an art and a science; the art of human connection and the science of evidenced-based therapies such as CBT, DBT and ACT. I am also a social worker at heart and like to bring in an understanding of our society to help people of color, LGBTQIA+ folks and other marginalized communities feel empowered to navigate and cope with the impact of these systems of today's world.
