"It is my belief that the purpose of therapy is to provide a loving, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space; allowing for the full exploration of all aspects of one's Self. With the goal of helping that person come to better accept their humanity; and within that acceptance, open pathways for healing and growth."

I consider myself a generalist but most of my experience is in treating anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma.
Our past experiences, how they affect our world views, ourselves, and others are important. We all have good and bad experiences but sometimes the bad ones can leave us with emotional scars and painful memories. For example, we might find ourselves feeling anxious, depressed, angry, violent, passive, scared, intimidated, or overly pleasing. Some may turn to alcohol, other drugs, unhealthy coping strategies or avoid people and life altogether. You're not alone. Don't be ashamed, think you're different, or think that something's wrong with you. I'm here to lend a listening ear and psychologically assist you through those challenges.

My approach to therapy hinges on finding what works for you as an individual. This takes a lot of honesty and courage about the things with which you struggle. My commitment to my clients is to help them see these dynamics more clearly from a place of clarity, dignity, & respect and empower them towards a life that feels more meaningful and fulfilling. I have a strong focus on relationships. This includes the connections we have with meaningful people in our lives as well as the relationship we have with ourselves. Naturally, topics such as belonging, accountability, and shared experience tend to be important conversations for us.

With couples and families, we will work on resolving conflicts, improving communication and understanding, and building overall more effective relationship styles.
As a psychotherapist, researcher, and expert in culture and identity conflicts, my therapy work starts with making space for your unique lived experiences, identities, and how you show up in your different worlds. Using a range of evidence-based therapy techniques including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, I help my patients learn about themselves, explore the issues that have led to emotional distress, and teach healthy tools to manage the situations at hand. My therapy involves exploring your past, present, and future challenges and pursuing an emotional growth to handle it all.

I have experience and training in helping people with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief addiction, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, OCD, insomnia, eating disorders, ADHD and chronic health issues.
When meeting for the first time, you'll be greeted with a smile and a curiosity to understand you as a whole person. We'll talk about your experiences, strengths, thoughts, behaviors, habits, and relationships that shape you. We'll then discuss your goals for therapy and collaborate on a treatment plan to meet your needs. There is no one size fits all for therapy. It’s part science and part art. The science of therapy is using research supported interventions that have been proven to work. While the art of therapy is tailoring these interventions to you and your unique needs and strengths.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.
The feeling that something significant isn’t quite right can be easily overshadowed by life’s daily challenges. The importance of our mental wellness often gets pushed aside as we navigate conflict and suffer alone or in silence. Like it or not, challenges and conflict are an integral part of the human experience. My passion is helping people to realize that they can operate effectively in all realms of conflicted relationships. Leading to confidence in their ability to go out and create the life that we are all meant to live, full of meaning and purpose.

Initially, people may feel reluctant to seek out therapy to address their concerns. They may worry that it is a sign of weakness, and that they're the only ones dealing with issues. This is not true, the fact that you're seeking out therapy is a sign of strength and maturity. I am compassionate and laid back, which typically makes it easier for client's to engage in the therapeutic process. I strongly believe in establishing a collaborative relationship with my clients, so that we can discover your concerns, set goals, develop treatment plans, and empower you.

I especially pay attention to the relationship that develops over time between myself and clients as it can often provide a very rich growth experience.
Our capacity to connect, both with ourselves (i.e. our passions, feelings, and body) and with others, is crucial to our feelings of well-being. When we connect, we generally feel a sense of aliveness in ourselves and the world. When we can't connect, we feel anxious, isolated, empty, or depressed. I feel my job is to help clients to more fully connect to the range of their experiences. I help adults and adolescents explore why they lose connection. I help them identify, understand, and overcome the deep root of their disconnection. I help them find well-being, which gives me great joy.

Do you feel there is a disconnection in your relationship(s)? Has communication broken down, and the path to repair is unclear or uncertain? Maybe the "culture" of your relationship is not functioning as before? Each relationship is unique, bringing in different values of each person to it. Sometimes events or situations may cause a disruption to the relationship, and navigating these changes can be overwhelming. I can be a resource to help explore, discuss, and develop changes that build a "new culture" that works for you both.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
