I specialize in working with difficult events experienced in life such as grief & loss and trauma including sexual abuse, physical abuse, & PTSD.
Do you need a more creative way to process in therapy? Join me for Art Therapy. The daily stressors in our life can become obstacles and can bring us to feelings of isolation, loneliness, and a feeling of not being understood. We are not operating from the true self in self energy when this occurs. You can harness your true nature through creativity and art. We as individuals deserve to be heard, wanted, and loved. I work in individual counseling with evidence-based treatment through Expressive Art Therapy and Talk Therapy. I believe you have the ability to heal within and offer my services as a gentle guide on that journey.

I am a Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS), a Certified Family Trauma Professional (CFTP), a Certified Telemental Health Professional (CTMH, pending Board Cert), and Certified in Brainspotting (BSP-C).
Life happens; the effects of loss vary; and the impacts of stress/trauma are more ‘normal’ than most people realize. You are not alone; your struggles are real; and your mental wellness is and should be treated with as much vigor as your need for food and shelter. It is natural for our bodies to want to heal themselves; and our human strength and natural behavior is to adapt and evolve. We develop negative coping skills as we adapt to stress/trauma, grief/ loss, major life changes/transitions, chronic illness/pain, identity struggles, and relationship conflicts.

I am very passionate about impact, particularly with grief/ loss, communication, relationships, life transitions/change, dementia, chronic illness, and women's health.
With life comes challenges; beautiful and heavy or dark. Every person has a story and it is valuable! I believe that while trauma can have a powerful impact, we are incredibly resilient. Every human deserves to experience healing, to live life fully, and thrive. I am holistic and humanistic; mind, body, soul, spirit are connected. I believe in the power of curiosity, energy, grace, connection, and humor. Therapy offers new learning, self-discovery, skill-building, growth, and healing. With practice we learn to work through trauma to be fully present for all the moments in this life. Be curious. I look forward to connecting with you!

I have over 30 years of experience in treating people with issues of grief, sexual concerns, LGBTQIA2S+ issues, caregiver stress, post-ICU syndrome, and illnesses that impact the quality of life, such as cancer and Long Covid.
Healing is possible! From my own personal journey, I've come to understand that healing is not always a straightforward process. It often comes in waves, presenting us with opportunities to revisit past hurts with a newfound sense of insight and understanding. Life is full of challenges, and it takes courage to navigate them. I like to think of it as sailing through storms that come and go. Some storms are worse than others, but eventually, they pass, leaving us knowing we can get through even the worst of times.

You don't really like to talk about your childhood or maybe you don't even remember a lot of it. You know parts were bad, the fights, addictions, mental illness, sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, maybe even the death of a loved one. You try to put it behind you but you struggle in your marriage and yell at the kids. Holidays are hard, and sometimes you wonder if it's even worth living. You overcompensate or try to be invisible, because that's how you learned to survive. You suffer from a sense of not being worthy or enough, but it doesn't have to be like that. Life can be good. You ARE worthy and you ARE enough.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
