As an anti-racist, intersectional feminist, I believe in the constant and ever evolving pursuit of social, racial, gender, sexual, economic, and environmental justice. My goal in working with my clients is to address their concerns as a co-collaborator and ally. I work from a Relational/Cultural theoretical orientation, meaning that I believe the therapeutic relationship is a key to healing within treatment. I take an eclectic approach to counseling utilizing interventions from various theories in order to best serve the needs of the individual, couple, and family.

Everyone could benefit from talking with a counselor to help cope with life's stressors. You may prefer to meet with a counselor one-on-one to help improve your quality of life. If your intimate relationship is a concern, you and your partner(s) could utilize relationship counseling to communicate more effectively and regain the passion that drew you together. Building a support network and feeling as if you belong are also valuable resources that group counseling can provide. Regardless of your concern, there are multiple counseling options to help meet your needs. Initiating counseling services is the first step to feeling better.

Life can be wildly challenging and we were not built to walk through our struggles alone. If past and recent trauma, anxiety and hypervigilance, transitions and grief, relational challenges, chronic pain, or gender concerns have you feeling separate from yourself and your sense of wholeness, belonging, and joy, let's connect. My approach is grounded, warm, and accepting, supported by curiosity, respect, and lightheartedness. I welcome people from all backgrounds and especially enjoy working with gender expansive, queer, and LGBTQIA+ folks, and those exploring any aspect of their identity.

Have you ever felt self-doubt? Uncertainty about how to make changes or difficulty coping even if you know what you want to do differently? It can be hard to imagine the ideal life we want for ourselves, let alone figure out how to make it happen. Gaining both support AND skills in therapy can reduce feelings of worry, sadness, and the "stuckness" we all feel at times. I look forward to working collaboratively with you as you move toward your ideal life!

Activist Lilla Watson expressed: “If you have come here to help me, you are wasting your time. But if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.” This vision inspires my approach to therapy: one that is collaborative, open, and exploratory, kindled by mutual feelings of trust and safety. It also reflects my philosophy toward the healing process as one that is non-linear and rooted in both individual growth and collective care.

We might be a great fit if you consider yourself a highly sensitive person (HSP), want to work through disordered eating or body image issues using a Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating approach, are an early career therapist or other helping professional wanting to build out a sustainable professional foundation for yourself and avoid or heal burnout, or know you benefit from working with a therapist operating from an anti-oppressive lens.

I am a queer, White, culturally Jewish (anti-Zionist), cisgender woman who specializes in working with adults on trauma processing. I believe that the "personal is political" and encourage clients to explore how systems of oppression like racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia impact their mental health and well-being. I enjoy working with queer and trans clients; I am experienced in writing gender-affirming surgery letters. I take a "Health at Every Size" (HAES) approach to eating and movement. I like to use a variety of therapy approaches in my work: mainly IFS, EMDR, relational psychodynamic, ACT, and DBT.

I am a counselor who understands how it feels to sit in front of a therapist, that is why compassion is important to me. Vulnerability can be difficult, but we can create a safe space so when you're ready, we can change the difficulties interfering with your wants. That is therapy, getting what you need to get what you want. For example, depression has different flavors, but it keeps us from engaging fully in life and/or losing focus on what our dreams are. Whatever you are seeking to make life better and better, I am here to help. In person sessions can be scheduled on a limited basis but Telehealth with be offered on going.

Are you tired of that voice in your head that’s telling you that you’re broken and crazy? Are you struggling to move forward after a toxic or controlling relationship? Have you ever felt betrayed, hurt, or taken advantage of by a loved one? You are not alone. Destructive, controlling relationships can leave us feeling disconnected from our friends, our families, and even ourselves. Left unaddressed, the lingering effects of past trauma can touch every area of our lives. But suffering is not a life sentence, and what is broken can be put back together even stronger, braver and more resilient than before.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
