I am currently serving children, adolescents, and adults, in individual and family therapy.
My approach to therapy is to treat the whole person through a collaborative process. I am a firm believer in that everyone goes through "ups" and "downs" throughout life. I also believe that no matter how one may view a problem, how that person feels and how that person thinks is what is most important. I believe that problems and issues can be resolved, especially when one is invested in his/her treatment. I enjoy working with my clients to find solutions and assist in learning how to find happiness, enjoyment, and a sense of control. I find creative ways to engage with my clients throughout the therapeutic process.

I provide individual, couple and family therapy.
Every now and then, we are faced with challenges that are difficult to handle on our own. Sometimes these can be very overwhelming and feelings of loneliness, confusion or depression enter into our lives. If this is you, and talking with your spouse, friend or family member isn't getting you where you'd like to be, it might be time to give therapy a try. I conduct therapy in a manner that enables you to understand present patterns, identify and remove constraints, and achieve better functioning and enhanced growth.

Whether you need therapeutic support for your child, answers, or are simply looking for strategies to help your family navigate a new life stage, you will leave our time together with a better understanding of what your child’s behavior is really communicating and have a tailored action plan to support your family’s needs.
Does your child have trouble focusing or performing in school? Are you looking for parent strategies to better support your child’s needs? Are you concerned with your child's mental health or development? As a parent/caregiver, your natural instinct is to provide support for your child, although knowing the "what" or "how" is not always clear. All behavior communicates something. Whether it is a skill deficit, learned pattern, or underlying symptom, determining what lies behind the behavior is the first step to supporting it. You bring the experience as the parent and together we will determine the "what," "why," and "how."

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, tennis, and sipping lattes with family & friends.
Life can often get in the way of us taking care of ourselves and providing the space for us to grow and thrive. Stress, trauma, and difficult experiences often interrupt our emotional well-being and create emotional distress. Everyone deserves the opportunity to find their true self to experience joy. Hence, it's my passion to come alongside kids, teens, and adults, and support them in the journey toward health and happiness.

I have a cognitive behavioral approach to emphasize the power of our thoughts, feelings, and actions while utilizing methods from the Gottman Institute, Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy, and Family Systems Theory.
Over the last 5 years, I have experience working with individuals, couples and families struggling with relationships, parenting, and life transitions. I understand the importance of relationships throughout life and utilize my skills to assist parents, couples, and families in building healthy, long-lasting relationships. It is a natural occurrence in all relationships to have periods of highs and lows. Oftentimes the stressors of life make it difficult to heal from the lows and transform your marriage with life’s changing stages.

Ultimately, I believe that our work together is best supported when we recognize multiple influences on the human experience that can impact your concerns such as physical health, spirituality, family, social relationships, culture, and community.
Are you concerned about postpartum depression now that you are expecting a baby? Does the thought of childbirth spark anxiety and terror as your pregnancy due date approaches? Or perhaps you and your loved one have experienced infertility or a traumatic birth, and these events have been re-playing in your mind over and over. Although it can be exciting, becoming a parent can also include feelings of fear, doubt, and uncertainty. You are not alone. At Mecklenburg Wellness, we nurture the whole person through honoring the mind, body, and spirit through healing and renewal.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
