I am completing clinical hours for a Couples and Family Therapy degree.
My clinical focus is couples, families, and individuals who know hardship and want to thrive. I specialize in first responders, system-impacted children & families, people in recovery, eating disorders, and trauma recovery and integration. We heal in relationships; be they family, friends, animals, nature, or with a higher power. Exploring those relationships, their impact on you, and how to navigate change will be part of our work together. Our relationship matters as well. I promise to be a direct, kind, humorous, and trustworthy companion who pays close attention to your physical and emotional health.

Whether working with you as an individual or as a family, my aim is to develop a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork.
I provide therapy and parent training for young children demonstrating challenging behaviors at home or at school. I also provide therapy services for children, adolescents, and young adults experiencing significant difficulties with anxiety, ADHD, and/or depression. A primary speciality of mine is working with parents to better understand their children and their children's unique parenting needs. This sometimes involves a comprehensive assessment to explore concerns related to ADHD, Autism, or learning differences.

I assist youth and families to build and maintain strong relationships. I teach parents skills to help their children both change challenging behavior and shift to a place of deep healing and connection. I address family of origin issues with parents allowing them to cope with their past, so that they can remain responsive, engaged and calm during stressful times. I assist in working through trauma coming from child abuse, neglect, sexual assault, and violence. I assist those going through stages of grief: helping them learn how to live beyond the loss.

Having both personal and professional experiences with grief, caregiving, and complex family dynamics, I am particularly attuned to clients facing those challenges, no matter their role. Grief can show up in all sorts of ways from a death of a loved one, a loss of a job, a relationship breakup, family estrangement, or a change in one's health. Our complex feelings around grief and loss can manifest as anxiety, despair, and anger, as well as feeling disconnected from one's community and one's self. My hope is to provide a path to explore these feelings, and find some relief during difficult life transitions.

I work through several modes including Play Therapy, Child Parent Relationship therapy, Emotion Focused Individuals and Couples Therapy, and Family Counseling.
Hello I'm Collin, and I'm glad you stumbled upon my page. We might be a good match if you are a parent struggling with connecting, parenting, or understanding your child or if you are a couple struggling to maintain healthy communication with your partner, finding yourself frustrated in a seemingly never-ending cycle of conflict. We may also be a good fit if you are a teen, (or a teen's parent) fed up with how things are, struggling with connection, or just needing a safe place to vent and learn coping skills.

I'm Internal Family Systems trained (not certified), work with theophostic prayer counseling, if you are open to it, and understand just how challenging it can be to heal.
Hearts and life can become complex, and I believe your heart can be set free from all that holds it back and causes it to stumble. I am convinced that your heart is unique and exquisitely beautiful. You have a great destiny and it would be my privilege to help discover what it is. Sound too good to be true? Does your heart feel in pain? Have you been numbing that pain, exploding with anger when you wish you would “hold it in,” or isolating from relationships? Your heart has its reasons for feeling the way it does. Let's begin either in person or via phone or video. I work with couples and individuals.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
