Believing that each individual is special and unique, I try to understand you, your beliefs, core values and narratives. My goal is to listen to you. Together we can focus on achieving your goals. As human beings, we are social creatures. We were not meant to walk alone. Sometimes, however, our problems--whether they be large or small--make us feel alone and weighed down. I want to walk with you through whatever challenges you bring to therapy. I believe we all have the power to grow and I will work with your strengths to help you do that.

Being human isn't always easy, no matter how much we would like it to be. Sometimes we experience events and relationship challenges that shake us to the core, leave our emotions raw, and challenge everything that we think we believe about the world. One of my passions is helping individuals and couples to find coping strategies, process through the difficulties they are facing, and help them move towards healing and growth. I offer a compassionate space that honors all of the emotions and experiences my clients bring to the room, and allow them to process at their own pace, while encouraging them to face difficult things.

Looking for a therapist to meet your particular needs can be a complex process. How do you trust someone with your concerns and issues? No one has all the answers. What I have developed over the years are the compassion, skills, approaches and persistence to help you tailor goals and create plans for your situation. Let's work together to make your life more hopeful, fulfilling and happy. I have spent much of my career working with individuals and adolescents in transition and can help you achieve the same success. I offer my services to residents of California by Tele-behavioral Health and in person in Beaverton, Oregon.

It takes courage to come to counseling. Congratulations on taking the first step. Life transitions, trauma, even understanding yourself is challenging and not meant to be gone through alone.

We are living in a bizarre, uncertain, and anxiety-inducing time. We have had to adapt almost every area of our lives in response to Covid-19, increasing both distance (from our communities) and proximity (to the people in our homes). Some who live alone may feel especially isolated right now. I love helping couples, families and individuals to address overwhelming emotions, communication issues, conflict, disconnection, loneliness, despair, stress, and hard transitions. Especially in the midst of global calamity, therapy can help promote hope, pleasure, flexibility, connection, stability, and resilience.

I work with adults of all ages, couples, adolescent, and families who are having trouble in their lives with relationships, struggling with daily life, and need someone to help guide them. It is my belief that there is an opportunity for everyone to thrive and to remain connected with others in the process. My approach is to first get to know you in order to build a strong therapeutic relationship. Once that is established, we then work on a common goal to help improve your daily functioning. I will collaborate with you to assure that the treatment you are getting is what you are seeking.

The decision to seek counseling is a courageous step. I believe this courage stems from a desire to be well, to be heard and affirmed, to have our needs met, to be empowered, a desire to live out of the truth of who we are and become the authors of our own lives. While each of us has a life story that is unique, I believe this desire is shared by all. As a counselor, I am privileged to provide a safe, professional, and supportive environment wherein individuals and couples can develop new tools to heal, learn and grow.

My focus is on affirmative care for clients of all ages, partners, and families who have felt other-ed because of their identity or various identities. I collaborate with and guide my clients on steps towards living to their full potential by learning to love and embrace their authentic selves. Some things we might address: recognizing and restructuring harmful internalized messages or thought patterns, accessing language to better communicate needs, exploring gender/sexuality, examining relationship dynamics that are causing stress, or getting general anxiety under control. We will celebrate your successes along the way.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I'm so stressed out and overwhelmed, I thought being a mom would be so different, that this would be such a magical time and it's not." "I'm feeling so alone and fearful, will I ever feel better or even normal again?" Too fearful of the feelings, that others will judge you or have so much shame or guilt that you can't even start to talk about it. I get it and I understand. I want to be able to help you feel like yourself again.

Hello. Thank you for considering my services. I have helped people understand themselves and their significant others for 25+ years. My approach is based on Christian and Psychoanalytic understandings of our humanity, our relationships and our trauma histories. Your emotional experiences and desires are key. I can contribute a variety of skills, frameworks and interpersonal sensitivities to our meetings - but what makes therapy unique is the activation of a special kind of relationship between us that allows feelings to be understood and old pains safely felt and transformed.

There have been numerous times in my life where I have needed to count on someone. Family and friends are a necessary and appreciated support for all of us however, someone outside of our personal relationships is often desirable and more effective. In those moments, I am thankful that counselors exist and I don’t have to go it alone. Similarly, times arise in our role as parents where our children may need help in a way that is outside of the structure and guidance that we offer as parents. As the saying goes, “it takes a village.” As a parent, I have counted on others many times. Just as there are occasions where I need help, I have always felt drawn to support others. I became a counselor so that I could fulfill this calling. I started in the field back in 1998 when I began my degree in psychology. Since then, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of individuals. I have worked with youth in the juvenile system, incarcerated women and mothers, adults with disabilities, children with autism, men who have sexually offended, individuals needing psychiatric assistance, families enduring domestic violence, and as a school counselor for children and adolescents.
