I work from a systemic perspective, looking at your problems from the larger context of your relationships ( family of origin to immediate family and friends) to address the details of your life.
If you are a couple looking for help, or if you are an adult struggling with ADHD, then I can help. I work with couples to help them move from feeling unloved, unimportant, lonely, and unheard to connecting and feeling loved, wanted, and heard. I help those with ADHD identify what causes stress and keeps them stuck. Then we work together to find ways to move forward and to address symptoms that get in the way of success and accomplishment. I work with premarital couples to help them identify potential problems and to gain skills to have strong, connected marriages. I am a certified facilitator of the Prepare/Enrich Program.

As a marriage and family therapist, the relationship is my client.
You wonder what happened - the two of you planned a wonderful life together, but you're feeling confused and disconnected. You know that you love one another. You tried to bridge the gap but your efforts seem to fall through the cracks. You would like to be able to show your care and appreciation without feeling rejected. You want to feel that you can communicate your needs and wants and love well without causing a fight.

I will help you work towards aligning your hopes and goals with productive and healthy ways of thinking and acting. My therapeutic approach allows you to identify and build upon your strengths while developing new skills and strategies that foster hope and help you face life challenges more effectively.

As a Marital and Family Therapist, I specialize in couples/marital/premarital therapy.
I believe that trauma affects all parts of our being- mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. Therefore, the healing process also needs to involve all parts of our being. Attachment wounds, abusive relationships with themselves and others, specific traumatic events, losses that need grieving, generational trauma and high conflict functioning in families affect how we view ourselves and interact with the world. Gabor Mate said it best, “ We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.” Look below for the current groups I am offering!

I am an outcomes based therapist and use clinically proven techniques (CBT, ERP, Family Systems theory, Mindfulness and more) to provide support, encouragement and education to help you move forward.
When life seems to be getting the best of you, stop and take the time to get a fresh perspective. Overwhelmed by transition issues, individual personal struggles, relational tensions, family issues, or a more chronic condition, like Depression, Anxiety or OCD, help is only a phone call away. Recognizing your need and reaching out is the hardest part. You're half way there and you are not alone. Together we will identify barriers and build skills that will allow you to continue your journey with tools to address life's common challenges.

Adolescence can be a tumultuous time for many teens as they explore their identity and are constantly shaped by the world around them. Many families have difficulty discerning whether their teen may be experiencing typical age-appropriate challenges or significant mental health concerns. If you are concerned that your teen is facing stress, grief, anxiety or depression, I am here to help guide and support you and your child through appropriate prevention and treatment. I use music as a tool to meet teens where they are at and go beyond the confines of traditional talk therapy to best address their needs and goals.

My intention as a therapist is to provide a safe and comfortable space to support your journey of healing and self-discovery. I believe that the therapeutic relationship works best when it is built on a foundation of trust and authenticity, providing an ideal environment to explore emotions, create strategies to manage life's stressors, and to enhance your overall health and wellbeing. I view each individual through a holistic lens, combining mindfulness-based techniques, a person-centered approach, and believe in the mind-body connection. Yoga can also be added to sessions as a way to process emotions and to address self-care.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
