Nothing in life has to be in vain- whether through opportunities for healing and growth, insights, and strengths development, the trials and tribulations that come against us can be transformed from weighing us down into stepping stones for moving forward through healing. Counseling offers a unique type of human interaction- unlike speaking with friends and family, the session is solely focused on you and helping you reach your goals in life. I offer a collaborative approach in treating you as the expert on yourself and your world while I use my expertise and training to assist you in reaching your goals.

Starting your personal counseling journey is never a decision of weakness, but instead it's one of great strength and bravery. You are deciding to face the issues, change the patterns, and break the unhealthy cycles in your life and in your family. That is an incredibly brave thing to do, but it can be scary to get started. My hope and desire is that you feel supported and empowered throughout this process. I hope to be able to provide tools, guidance, and support as you walk out your journey of healing. I am a Christian and will incorporate faith-based elements when it's welcomed, but that is completely up to you.

Young adulthood can be a time of extreme discomfort as you navigate changes to your family relationships, peer and romantic relationships, and most importantly the relationship with yourself. When you pair these changes with a history of trauma, it can feel like you are living outside of yourself looking in. My goal is to help you become present in your life through various therapeutic techniques to process trauma and reduce its influence on your relationships.

My goal as a therapist is to help you/your family through your difficult life situation.
I believe that people do the best with what they have. Trauma, stress, anxiety and adverse life experiences can, at times, derail us from being our “best”. My role as a therapist is to help you reach your pinnacle. I always work from a strengths-based and client-centered focus. The client is the expert of their own life, but I serve as an agent for change to assist in developing, applying and supporting the therapeutic growth. I have experience with children, teenagers, young adults (up to age 35), couples and families.

Anxiety, depression and self critical thoughts can take the joy from our lives and leave us feeling hopeless and alone. Our relationship with food may be unhealthy and we may feel suicidal or compelled to self harm. We want to move through the world with confidence while living a life of purpose but are overwhelmed and feel stuck. Goals go unmet, and our world becomes smaller as we resist challenges in our social life, school and career, out of fear and discomfort. We want to have more friends, do well in school and have a satisfying job or family life. We want to be happy and fulfilled.

I received my degree in psychology and master's in clinical family counseling.
With specialized training in trauma and grief, I supervise and provide counseling here at the Colorado Center for Trauma and Attachment. When we've experienced pain or loss, we worry that we will never feel like ourselves again. I encourage you that you can heal; those impacted by grief, loss or trauma can feel joy. Together we will discover deep healing. Band aids do not cover deep wounds, and treatment in grief/trauma can help. A caring relationship that fosters growth and integration- counseling works! For parents searchIng for their child, it is important that you feel safe with your child's counselor- we will work together!

Being a school counselor I have worked with a wide range of students, young people, and even other family members who experience anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, and so much more.
Everyone is different and that's okay. We all struggle and that's okay. We all deal with difficult and hard times and sometimes we just need a little support. During our journey together we will travel those difficult areas in life while discovering those personal strengths you already possess. My hope is that through a strong relationship built on trust, understanding, and even a little humor we will find a level of healthy freedom. As we work together you may discover that your journey would best be traveled with someone else, so it is important you find someone who is a good fit for you.

Waitlist for new clients
I use a number of evidence-based models to cater the treatment specifically to the individual, couple, or family.
The clients I support are complex and unique. They have faced their own experiences, and just need a hand exploring their depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem challenges, attachment insecurities, and anything else that weighs heavily for them. In many cases, my clients want to repair relationships within their families and their communities and must overcome other barriers in order to have healthy relationships.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
