The clients I support are complex and have lived individual lives. They have faced their own experiences, and just need a hand exploring their depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem challenges, attachment insecurities, and anything else that weighs heavily for them. In many cases, my clients want to repair relationships within their families and their communities, and must overcome other barriers in order to have healthy relationships.
It's important to remember that each person on my couch is unique, and that solutions are not one-size-fits-all. I use a number of evidence-based models to cater the treatment specifically to the individual, couple, or family. I always use a systemic approach, and explore family and friend patterns to understand the experiences of my clients.
We are all engaging the Human Experience, and we're all doing the best that we can with what we have. Exploring therapy can be daunting and feel incredibly vulnerable, but I will sit with you in all of your vulnerability and "human-ness" and work with you using compassion, curiosity, non-judgement, and when the time is right, a little bit of humor!
