Aging can bring a host of new issues such as feelings of isolation after retirement, grief and loss due to deaths of friends and loved ones, and finding new meaning in life after old roles have disappeared. New roles such as being a caregiver for your parents, spouse, partner, adult child, or grandchild can also add stress at this time. Mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, addiction, and schizophrenia can continue and sometimes new mental health issues can arise. Health concerns and family dynamics can also make life challenging. Learning how to cope with these challenges and enjoy life is paramount.

I have worked with children and families in mental health and school settings, growing my understanding of child development and family dynamics.
Welcome! If you or someone you care about is struggling emotionally, I respect you for taking a step toward enhancing your mental health! Life can be hard and when we as adults, or our children, experience challenges we respond to them from our perspective and with the tools we have access to. Through therapy, you will unravel your thoughts, using talk, play, art, or other modes, while integrating new tools to grow. With experience in mental health, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities with clients managing a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, behavioral, and adjustment-related issues.

My practice is a mix of Person-Centered, Play, Existential, Narrative, Family Systems and Solution Focused interventions.
I was born and raised in Honduras and moved to New Orleans in 2008, where I completed my master’s in clinical mental health counseling. I enjoy working with individuals through the different life stages especially children, couples and families. I am passionate about social justice, diversity/multicultural issues, neuro-divergence, mindfulness and physical/mental wellness. As a “systemic thinker”, I believe it is important to focus on an individual’s family of origin and identifying family dynamics and patterns to help them solve their problems.

The teams and their couples at RCC have healed the torment of infertility, miscarriage, depression, significant losses, deaths of friends and family, financial problems, extended family strife, and a spouse's disability with a caregiving spouse.
Instead of staring at a therapist staring back at you, you join up with a TEAM in a place where you belong, in a way where we all show up for practice together. Together we create your dream relationship. You work hard ... blood, sweat, and tears kind of hard sometimes. At the end of it you'll have the kind of love you may never have dreamed you could have. This isn't just therapy, it's co-therapy. A philosophy that empowers couples like you to discover the magic of "us." We're your team, and your needs come first. Sessions START at 85 mins. The RCC-System means you succeed, all outside the constraints and limitations of insurance.

I believe everyone has a story to tell and sometimes the beginning to the healing path is sharing that story. I have seen and helped people change directions from an undesired life path to one of true healing and personal success. My goal is to help each person be the best version of themselves that has always been inside, but was unable to flourish. Everyone has the potential to shine, but sometimes the light is buried under past trauma, self doubt, lack of confidence, or simply lacking the opportunity to look inward to find that true potential.

Immediate and Early Evening Appointments Available. I view therapy as a journey. The path on this journey of life is twisting and winding with many detours, and it can be difficult to navigate on our own. The therapy hour is time carved out just for the client; a safe place with no shame, where people can give voice to their stories. It is my privilege to come alongside people on this journey to wholeness.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
