As an existential and humanistic therapist, I often use narrative therapy which aims to help individuals separate from the problems they are facing, allowing you to externalize issues rather than internalize them.
I learned something following a mentor of mine, “life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose.” This has been a foundation for me and a belief that I feel can best support individuals along their journeys. This belief coupled with a genuine and empathetic counseling relationship are factors that I feel can help facilitate re-connection and self discovery while repairing the self of past wounds. Mindfulness and curiosity can help bring awareness to feelings of angst and sadness that reside within us. My hope is that I can help you to navigate through life, despite its circumstances.

We are all many different things. We have many different feelings. We have many different issues. And we address them (or not) in different ways. We are a handful, and sometimes we need someone else to help figure things out. Human beings have a great capacity for growth and change, and in working together we can find the best version of yourself to be more authentic, happy, peaceful and inspired. My approach is simple: get personal. With an eclectic academic and professional background, I am committed to helping people through a method specific to their needs.

Life inevitably involves struggle, pain, and loss. The question is how do we respond to these things so that pain doesn't morph into long-term suffering, and so that meaning, joy, and connection can still be found, even amidst our struggles. That's where I can help. The foundation of my work is building a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship where you feel understood. From there we can begin to craft effective responses to whatever is troubling you: depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, loss, chronic pain, or more existential concerns about life direction and meaning.

My guiding philosophies are person-centered, existential, and transpersonal/mindfulness-based.
People are complex and life is a lot - sometimes we can manage alone and sometimes we need additional support. I'm here for those times that could use support. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or even bored with your current situation. You may have an urgent concern and insufficient tools to deal with it. Or, you might not be quite so sure what the problem is exactly, but know something isn't right in your core or spirit. You are probably seeking to change your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, or beliefs in some meaningful way. By being here and looking for a therapist in the first place, you're taking a brave first step.

The use of humanistic psychology and existential living principals often help others better regulate unconscious, reactive patterns to life-changing circumstances, allowing for creative actions that align with personal needs and values.
In this age of narcissism and self-discovery, many are feeling isolated and alienated from others, causing us to reassess our relationships and personal choices. Many are disillusioned, anxious and depressed due to unwanted life experiences that threaten our sense of security and block our path to happiness. Understandably, many seek a trusted space to identify their concerns, explore circumstances in the context of personal feeling and values, and create an authentic pathway forward that's aligned with one's aspirations. If this description of distress and desire for change resonates with you, please consider my helping hand.

The most pronounced trait I have encountered in my clients over the last nine years is resilience. I believe that every person has the innate capacity to overcome the difficulties that life presents. This potential is tapped through collaboration with clients to discover which tools and approaches will work best in each situation. My therapeutic approach includes modalities from acceptance and commitment, client-centered, cognitive-behavioral, existential, feminist, and mindfulness therapies. I strive to meet my clients where they are in their healing process and provide safe, non-judgmental, kind, and direct counseling.

My approach to therapy is highly personalized, often blending evidence-based modalities like DBT and CBT with contemplative and existential perspectives.
Welcome! If you’re feeling stuck, unfulfilled, or like you’re not getting where you want to be, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. I believe that the connections we have—with ourselves, others, and the world around us—are what make life meaningful. I can help you explore how past experiences shape your current thoughts, feelings, and behavior, so that we can identify and address what's holding you back. I specialize in the intersection of ADHD and self-esteem issues, but work with a wide range of concerns. Let’s tackle this together.

I enjoy what I do and helping people figure out what they want and where they want to be — or get through what they have to! My clients tell me they've appreciate that I "don't give up" on people and I put energy and focus in our work because I want to see you get better. Some people know exactly what they want - anxiety management skills or how to cope with depression or trauma. Some people know that something isn't right but they're not sure where to start. The question is what do you want to change about your life - what's not working now. I’m ND affirmative, nonjudgmental, and see couples in all types of relationships

We all are looking to live joyful, empowered lives. Yet when we run into challenges that are confusing and painful, it can create feelings that are hard to navigate. Some of these feelings might include fear, heart-break, shame, loneliness, uncertainty and hopelessness. Within the turmoil of these painful experiences, there is always an opportunity to heal and grow. At the core of every person is a well of goodness and love waiting to be accessed. My approach is to facilitate deep emotional healing, to help others tap into their strengths, move through challenges and restore joyfulness of being.

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
