Everyone has a story, and I make myself available in a safe and comfortable space to help you process your history, understand how it is impacting you today, and learn how to regain your sense of purpose through it all. I come from a “whole-person” approach, which means physical, mental, and spiritual health are all connected, and we can talk about one or all. My goal is to help you move through this process in a timely, but emotionally safe, manner, so you can flourish in your own space without me.

Sometimes we find ourselves struggling over things we "shouldn't" or feeling down, anxious, or stuck "for no reason." We often criticize ourselves for struggling or try to grin and bear it, but these options often make things worse or at best maintain the status quo. Therapy, however, can help us learn how to navigate life's challenges and be kinder to ourselves in the process. Within the context of a genuine, empathic, collaborative, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, my goal is to help you learn about yourself, and together move you towards living the life you want.

Virtual Only: Hi! I look forward to meeting you. During these unprecedented times, it can be much easier to feel isolated, depressed, or anxious. Talking with someone about these feelings takes strength and vulnerability. I hope to provide a safe place for you to explore feelings associated with stress, addiction, anxiety, depression, anger, hopelessness, recovery, relationships, PTSD, new or past trauma, and much more. Many people feel isolated and alone right now, seeking connection and attempting to make sense of the world we live in today. If this is something you are struggling with, please know you are not alone.

I am a licensed psychologist with experience treating adults, young adults, athletes, and couples. My approach to therapy is supportive, client-centered and humanistic. I think of my role as facilitating growth, rather than dictating how one should or should not live. I work to be authentic and real with my clients and believe that trust, safety, and a positive therapeutic relationship can lead to meaningful change and wellbeing. I have extensive training and experience treating general mental health, as well as Sport Psychology concerns for elite and professional athletes.

I am a psychoanalytical psychotherapist. This means we work together from a holistic perspective, with the unconscious and your dreams and your personal life experience, including trauma. I work with clients who no longer want to be limited by their reactive patterns, cultural conditioning, insecure attachment styles and past traumas, helping them to embody new possibilities in life and love. Therapy provides a ritualized setting for a process that encourages the development of the client's intimate awareness of him/herself. We can remobilize the thwarted capacity to give and to receive love.

Existential Therapists

How does existential therapy work?

Existential therapy focuses on a patient’s inner experiences. The therapist tries to help the individual comprehend and alleviate symptoms by exploring their interior life. By confronting negative disquiet and emotions, the individual will hopefully become more open to finding meaning and purpose. This therapy can be administered to individuals or groups.

Is existential therapy evidence-based?

Existential therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has determined that existential therapy can lead to significant improvement in the mental health of patients, and for some people it can be just as effective as cognitive behavioral therapy. The benefits of existential therapy are enduring, even long after treatment has ended.

How long does existential therapy last?

The goal of existential therapy is to understand a person’s internal experiences, which may sound like a lengthy process, but it does not have to be so in-depth. However, sessions are not short-term, and therapy can continue for months or up to a year. And because patients learn the theory behind existential therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is existential therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with existential therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving feelings of isolation, feelings of purposelessness, as well as conditions such as anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can persist even after the end of existential therapy, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve developed during treatment.
