I draw from many evidence based approaches, including ACT, AEDP, DBT, EMDR, and ART, among others.
If you are feeling stressed, overwhelmed, uncertain, or just plain stuck, you do not have to go it alone. I work with individuals and couples who are doing their best to navigate life's difficulties, but need some extra support to get through their current challenges. I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore what is causing you to feel stuck and what would help you become "unstuck." I trust people’s inherent strength, and ability to bounce back from way more than we might imagine possible. I see myself as a supportive guide, facilitating a process of self inquiry, creating shared meaning, and making needed changes in life.

I use various treatment modalities and am also EMDR trained.
Life can be difficult and painful for us all. If you're struggling with anxiety or depression, or you're simply feeling run down by the complexities of life, I can help you. My therapeutic approach is very direct. Therapy with me can feel intense but my clients often tell me that they needed the push I gave them. Too often, people go to counselors who are very nice, but who don't have the courage to challenge people in a compassionate but direct way. If you are ready for a wonderful life change, please contact me.

I am trained in EMDR and often draw on somatic therapies, attachment theory, and parts work.
Experiencing trauma, loss, or upheaval is destabilizing and isolating. It can erode the relationships we value the most while making us call into question our sense of identity. Even if we avoid consciously thinking about it, the imprint of our past can wreak havoc on our physical health, our nervous system, and our present experience. The healing process asks us tune into our intuition and our bodies so that we can notice which parts of ourselves most need our attention and care. I can offer tools and support for those seeking to regain a sense of safety and connection with themselves, others, and the world around them.

EMDR, Internal Family Systems therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy are all extremely effective in pushing through barriers for major shifts.
Are you ready for big change? Sometimes we come to a point where we feel like we’ve hit a wall. Maybe you’ve been doing therapy for years, but you still feel like something needs to break through. Or maybe you feel like you know what you need to do in your head, but it's not clicking in your heart and body. If this feels like where you’re finding yourself, I can help. I work specifically with women that identify with being highly-sensitive people. Being sensitive in this world can be tough. I want to help you find your power, connect to your intuition, and step into embracing yourself exactly as you are.

Life is challenging, and for some, it feels impossible. Unwelcome and harmful thoughts and feelings make happiness a task that seems far out of reach. It can be overwhelming, and it can negatively affect the way we function in our day to day lives. If this speaks to you, I want you to know that you are not alone, and I would be honored to help you work toward a happier, more fulfilling life.

As a process oriented therapist I use mindfulness based strategies that incorporate body awareness, and mind body integration methods such as TRE (Trauma and tension release exercises), and EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing).
I believe therapy should be a collaborative and creative process that evokes thoughtful reflection and brings out the resilience in you. Resilience is accepting a new reality, even if not ideal. It is my belief that no matter what life hands you, internal resiliency is your birth right and can help you find and restore balance. Even though innate abilities differ among people, a sense of mastery can be cultivated. My therapeutic approach is to help clients restore their sense of confidence and safety in themselves and in the world.

You may find yourself struggling with the demands of society along with personal stressors. I specialize in helping people understand the ways trauma, especially complex trauma, impacts their lives, their relationships, and their sense of Self. With support, one can build resilience after experiencing tremendous grief and trauma. As your counselor I aim to provide safe and therapeutic support as you garner skills to face difficult roadblocks that might otherwise seem too overwhelming to tackle or unconsciously hidden. Some of these obstacles can cause anxiety, anger, depression, insecurities, and conflicts with relationships.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
