With formal training in EMDR, Brainspotting, and DBT, I have a focus in trauma, anxiety, depression, and inter-personal relationships.
Telehealth Counseling and Coaching throughout the US. While working with people, I help them work through the process of engagement, healing, and growth. My initial approach is to see the greatness of a person. I work with people to help them see their own greatness noting that their behaviors do not define them. The behavior is unhealthy, not the person. Who a person is at the core is always great, healthy, and beautiful. As we pull apart maladaptive behaviors from the individual, I help people become actively engaged in their own therapeutic process beginning a journey of healing and growth.

We may also engage in art therapy, play therapy, EMDR or Brainspotting.
In my psychotherapy practice with adolescents, men, women and families the focus is typically on issues such as behavioral concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ADHD and anger. I believe that everyone is entitled to be treated with respect and honesty and that therapy should start where the client is at. Additionally, each client has their own ways of gaining insight and implementing new patterns into their lives and will have their own pace at which they discover the strengths within themselves. I like to work with the client to discover what is most effective for them and go from there.

I use EMDR and other therapy models to support you in this process.
Going through the motions and feeling overwhelmed in day to day tasks and relationships can be exhausting. Your ability to be the person you once were can seem out of reach, or never even seems to have existed. The emotions you feel seem to be running the show and you desire change. Hopelessness, worry, and sadness do not have to be your story. You want to feel at peace, empowered, and confident. I can help you identify areas in your life that may be contributing to some of your current stressors, frustrations and relational challenges and how to move forward. I work with adolescents and adult women.

Using EMDR Therapy and Somatic Experiencing, my goal is to support you in re-experiencing Life and creating space to truly heal and evolve.
You’ve been through some tough stuff. Talking about it hasn’t brought you the relief you hoped. You’re still feeling on edge, waiting for the next bad thing to happen. In your head, you know you’re safe now, but there’s a part of you that still doesn’t really believe that. Worst of all, sometimes you can't even explain or understand all the feelings yet something is getting in the way of you trusting and connecting with others. You try to get on with your life the best you can, powering through the discomfort that comes up. But something is happening in your body and mind that just doesn't make sense. You question, Am I broken

I am internationally certified in EMDR.
I believe that you are the experts in your own lives and have the ability to make positive changes. I feel that it is my job as a therapist to illuminate your strengths and to support the growth that you choose. I generally utilize a solution-focused modality that explores what is working in your lives, what you would like to do more of, and then we work collaboratively to identify and address your specific goals. What you bring to each session will shape what we address that day, whether from the present or past. I pay close attention to your life stories and can assist in tracking progress made toward your identified solutions.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative and hopeful. I have extensive experience working with individuals dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, PTSD, interpersonal violence and complex relational crises. It can be a challenge to remain present and functional in life when dealing with unresolved confusion and pain. Therapy can create space to view what’s obscured by stress/fear and develop capacity to attend to it. I offer talk therapy, somatic interventions (including EMDR, mindfulness activities & visualization), and reflective practice - there are many paths that can lead to reconnection and joy.

Therapy is about processing, healing, and making healthy changes in behavior. It is a great sign of growth when you no longer feel the need for therapy sessions; it means you were successful in making the changes you wanted. I take this approach to the therapeutic process to make sessions the most effective and most efficient they can be for you.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
