In my psychotherapy practice with adolescents, men, women and families the focus is typically on issues such as behavioral concerns, depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, ADHD and anger. I believe that everyone is entitled to be treated with respect and honesty and that therapy should start where the client is at. Additionally, each client has their own ways of gaining insight and implementing new patterns into their lives and will have their own pace at which they discover the strengths within themselves. I like to work with the client to discover what is most effective for them and go from there.
It is important that the relationship between therapist and client is positive and productive. If we work together that is more likely to happen. In your sessions with me we will work primarily from a cognitive behavioral approach (CBT). We may also engage in art therapy, play therapy, EMDR or Brainspotting.
The other component of my practice involves a State-Approved Batterer's Intervention program. It is a cognitive behavioral group that assists clients in increasing their insight and awareness as well as learning healthy relationship and parenting skills in a respective, honest and supportive, but not enabling environment.
