I come from queer and liberation therapy perspectives to utilize Gestalt relational and somatic therapy, as well as psychodynamic, mindfulness, and EMDR therapies.
I tend to be a good fit for clients experiencing shame, despair, isolation and existential dread. I work most often with people who have been pushed to the margins, including trans, non-binary and queer people, autistic and other neurodivergent people, and people who have survived traumatic events and relationships. I enjoy working with organizers, activists, and artists. As a trans woman myself, I have experienced both the harms of misguided psychotherapy and the healing that can come from a co-created and trusting therapeutic relationship.

I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy ( EMDR) to help you heal from trauma, manage anxiety, and internalize more adaptive views.
My strengths as a clinician are working with young adults, young couples, and women who have survived traumatic events, including ongoing interpersonal trauma, and who want support to process these experiences in order to show up more fully for their lives in the present. I also really enjoy supporting individuals and couples as they are making transitions in their lives and in their relationships, growing their family, navigating pregnancy and postpartum stages, striving to better integrate their careers and family, and deepening intimacy and connection with each other.

These range from psychodynamic to solution focused therapies, as well as EMDR, mindfulness, cognitive therapy, narrative therapy, and gestalt and existential techniques.
I believe that we all struggle with trauma, and most mental health challenges stem from how one adapts to these experiences. I specialize in working with trauma, identifying how it is held in the body, the strategies we uphold as defense mechanisms, and how to negotiate with our inner self to move toward a healthy healing of mind and body. Coming from either a top down approach for those thinker types, or a bottom up approach for those feeler types, we will compassionately reconnect the mind and body, in order to achieve relief and greater connectivity to self and others.

I utilize a variety of approaches including IFS, EMDR, mindfulness and meditation.
Some things are difficult to think about and even harder to talk about. Perhaps you are experiencing depression or anxiety, dissatisfaction in a relationship or career, or struggling with substance abuse/misuse or self-sabotaging behaviors. These are just some of the many reasons that one might find themselves seeking help from a therapist. When one makes the decision to seek help it is the courageous first step in the journey to self-awareness and a more fulfilling life. Very simply, my role as a therapist is to help you begin the transformative journey of uncovering limiting beliefs that are obstacles to emotional wellness.

In addition to talk therapy, I use EMDR, a trauma therapy that helps people process deeply - beyond just the cognitive.
Are you new to therapy and nervous to start? Or have you tried it before and spent your sessions trying to achieve a good grade in therapy – whatever that could possibly mean? I am a licensed social worker, and I'm passionate about working with young adults who are lost, worried, stressed, and anxious. Those who have spent their lives being high achievers and aren’t sure where the resume stops and they, a human person worthy of love just as they are, begin. I value collaboration, empathy, humility, warmth and humor in the therapeutic relationship. You are the expert on your own life.

Using attachment frameworks, Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and somatic approaches, I support people in coming home to their bodies and emotional selves, and in creating brave relationships in which they are witnessed deeply and meaningfully, to restore them to their agency and security, and empowering them to live their lives more fully.
I work with people to help them explore, understand, and heal from the ways life has left its imprints upon them— be that from trauma, oppression, or simply the complexity of our messy and beautiful interconnectedness with each other. My approach is creative, humorous and relational. It is rooted in values of anti-oppression, abolitionism + transformative justice, and harm reduction.

Don't give up! Using the tools of EMDR and therapeutic exposure, you'll learn strategies of to help you calm your mind and body.
A moment ago, you were doing fine. Sitting at your desk, completing an assignment-when out of nowhere it hits. A tidal wave of anxiety crashes over you as you start to panic. Your mind races, your palms sweat, and every muscle in your body tenses up. Tring to calm down and tell yourself that it will pass is no use. The overwhelming sense of impending doom is impossible to shake. You're so sick and tired of your life being hijacked by uncontrollable emotions and painful memories. You know that unless you do something different, things will only continue to get worse. But you don't know how to make a change. It all feels so helpless!

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
