I specialize in childhood trauma, inner-child work, spirituality, codependency, CBT, DBT, shadow work, narcissistic abuse, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-esteem, setting boundaries, and building effective communication skills.
For most of us, living a life without pain and suffering is the ultimate goal. Oftentimes, we try to change or control everything in our external environment to find peace and happiness within ourselves. We may change jobs, move to a new city, or seek out new relationships – only to find that our pain and suffering still exist. As a result, we feel hopeless or powerless over our lives and may resort to destructive behavioral patterns to cope with our emotions. Over time, we may realize that – no matter where we go, or what we do – we are always left facing ourselves.

Don’t Just Feel Better, Get Better---It’s time to make a change and start living instead of surviving. When you are suffering, you may feel like you aren’t living a life worth living. You may feel overwhelmed and think there is nothing you can do to get better and stay better. Have you tried a number of treatments with little to no results? But, here you are, still looking for solutions.

Life can be stressful and overwhelming. I enjoy working with people to develop more coping skills and helping them process what is going on in their lives. I work a lot with teenagers and their families as they navigate through this important phase in life. I also work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma and life changes. I want to help others be able to enjoy their lives more and not feel stressed and overwhelmed by what they face. I believe therapy needs to be practical and useful in their daily lives.

Let this be the moment you commit to changing your life—to resolve your mental-emotional issues, move through your blocks, and start manifesting the life you want. I have gone through my version of the healing journey; my issues were—addiction, depression, traumas, losses, and performance blocks—and because I moved through my issues, I was ready to flourish. It is my privilege to assist my clients in their journey. In addition to the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects, I assist my clients in learning to perform in their personal and social relationships and careers. I specialize in working with athletes and other performers.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" (Anais Nin). You know when it's time to make a change - whether the struggle is depression, anxiety, past trauma, or perhaps a painful relationship - there comes a tipping point when you are ready to make that first step toward hope.

Each of us has the ability to impact the world in a unique and powerful way and we are all born with the desire to deeply connect with others. Struggles with anxiety, depression, insecurity, burnout and stress can discourage us and keep us from realizing our full potential. Counseling gives you the opportunity to feel seen, heard and understood as well as challenged. It is through therapy that we come to understand ourselves more fully allowing personal growth, self esteem and possibly true satisfaction with the life we are given.

I have special interests in working with trauma/PTSD, eating disorders, the LGBTQIA+ population, and individuals with aging-related stressors.
In this world full of stressors, we can easily end up feeling overwhelmed, unmotivated, or disconnected from ourselves and others. Finding someone who can help you work through these struggles can make a significant difference in living a more fulfilling life. I strive to help you do that in a safe, supportive environment in which you feel valued and accepted for who you are.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
