While I work with a full range of presenting concerns and client backgrounds, my specialty areas include LGBTQIA + clients, couples/ relationship therapy, grief/loss, infertility/pregnancy, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
If you are reading this, you are likely contemplating changing some areas of your life that aren't working effectively. Therapy is a journey of personal reflection, healing, and growth in a safe and confidential environment. My approach to therapy is warm, active, and inquisitive. I will empathically support, guide, and gently challenge you in ways that are conducive to the goals we set together. I use Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioral frameworks to help bring your unconscious thoughts and actions to conscious awareness. Through this process, you will identify the patterns that no longer serve your goals, and build new tools.

I offer evidence-based treatments to address presenting concerns that include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief, and relationship issues. I also work with clients looking for psycho-therapeutic guidance to explore intuitive eating, movement, body image, and exercise. My hope during our time together is to go beyond coping tools and symptom management, to provide therapy that leads to psychological resilience, growth, and development. I am theoretically-minded, and many of the sessions focus first on unraveling and exploring concepts, after which the ideas will be practically applied.

I have a passion for helping others, and love working with adults, couples, and families through healing and growth.I believe that every person has the necessary resources within to overcome the obstacles in their life. Some complex obstacles, like traumatic events, can create points of fixation based on feelings of fear or helplessness. These situations that are outside of our control can leave long lasting feelings of powerlessness. Part of overcoming traumatic events involves coming to a place of acceptance that these things happened and they are not our fault.

Relationship issues? Do you suffer from anxiety? Does low self-esteem get in the way for you of having the life you really want? Maybe you are seeking insight into why you can't let go of past events that have impacted you. I can help. I believe strongly in the idea that everyone has the ability to heal themselves and at times may need additional support or guidance along the way. At the core of my therapeutic style, is the belief that a foundation of mindfulness and cultivating a healthy relationship to self is where healing and wholeness begin.

I see us working collaboratively on whatever issue(s) and/or goal(s)you bring in. I have been working in the counseling profession for more than 10 years. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.

I view my relationship with my client as collaborative; you decide what your goals are and I help you meet them.
Are you lonely, feeling depressed and hopeless thinking that life has passed you by? Are you struggling with a transition in your life: empty nest, divorce, newly married, or the loss of a loved one or a new job? I have worked with individuals, couples and families struggling with these issues. I help clients acquire direction and tools to move beyond old "non working"patterns in their lives. I work to see your growth through empowerment, direction and education.

Utilizing Unrivaled, Unique Methods, I can help you find and resolve what is holding you back so you can achieve your goals; re-invent yourself so you can attract into your life, happiness, success and good relationships; solve problems in your current relationship, or free yourself from unhappy relationships.
Relationships and the Quality of your Life will not just improve on their own. People continue doing the same things and, interestingly, expect different results. Just look around and see how many people are really unhappy in their lives, have given up on their dreams, and have settled for a routine day by day existence. You need effective solutions that are actually DIFFERENT than anything you have ever tried. For about 19 years, I have successfully helped hundreds of my consultees to improve the quality of their lives and relationships, achieve their goals and happily live their Dream Lives.

It’s time to acknowledge that your relationship needs help.
It hurts every day- despite you doing the best you can to distract yourself, the minute you stop pre-occupying yourself with distractions, you connect immediately with that emotional pain inside and the emptiness and alienation. The emotional pain comes from disconnection. You don’t feel your partner is responsive and present with you. You don’t feel wanted and needed or important. When you try to address this, it doesn't go anywhere, or you end up having a fight, which makes you feel even more devastated and distant from each other. You work so hard and give so much, you are still feeling not good enough and get no acknowledgement.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
