Every individual is unique and has a distinctive perspective. There are many factors that contribute to the way we operate whether it is significant life events, relationships, or stressors. We are hard-wired to be in relationships with others. Relationships have a big impact on the way we are able to interact with others.

You’ve been trying your hardest in relationships but still feel the pain of aloneness or not finding lasting connection/s. Or, you find yourself stuck, not able to approach life with forward-moving energy or clear direction. I get it. Trauma, a difficult childhood, and/or life's inevitable disappointments, often create barriers to feeling solid within yourself & to attaining what you hope for in life. I use mind-body approaches that go beyond talk therapy to create lasting change. Together, we can identify & mend what is getting in the way of you having safe, authentic relationships or crafting a life that is more of what you want.

NOW accepting clients! You just lost one of the most important people in your life and you're struggling to manage a seemingly endless cycle of anger and overwhelming sadness. Will the pain ever end? Depression and anxiety have become your new normal and you feel so alone. You need someone who "gets it" to sit with you in your grief and not try to fix anything. Dealing with anxiety and constantly trying to please people is exhausting and it's taken a toll on your self-esteem. This doesn't have to be your forever story. You CAN feel better and I can help you create the life of purpose and fulfillment you are longing for.

People come to therapy for many reasons. Perhaps you feel confused about how you got to where you are and need help gathering some clarity. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed with all that has happened to you, and you need someone to help you feel seen. Or maybe life is changing rapidly in ways you’re not ready for, and you want support you as you navigate these new realities. Coming to meet a new therapist is a vulnerable experience. I want to honor your bravery in seeking support as I partner with you in creating change, finding healing, and experiencing more freedom, agency, and connection.

When navigating life itself feels daunting, I recognize that embarking on the counseling journey can feel equally so. When you feel lost, stuck, anxious, alone, or exhausted – and you’re just trying to figure out how you can make it through – it takes a tremendous amount of courage to reach out for help. Knowing this, I want to honor your efforts and provide you with a supportive environment to pursue both resolution and healing.

Do you feel like it's just not working any more? You are not alone! We all carry stories: the different relationships, events, and circumstances that have shaped and impacted us. As humans, we all have a deep longing and need for relationships. Early relationships often create the framework for perceiving and interacting with others. Our experiences throughout development lead us to internalize messages and form beliefs about who we are and how to interact with others. Early traumas, losses, and relational dysfunction can lead to present pain and distorted views of how we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Everyone has their own unique story, and what has happened in our past affects who we are and how we experience the world and relationships today. I believe that as humans, we are fundamentally relational, and relationships can both be the source of healing and the source of pain. Having a space to process the pain without judgment is essential for healing.

Being a woman in this world can feel so overwhelming- we feel like we are too much and also not enough, all at the same time. The endless to-do's, relationship challenges, and a loud and consistent inner critic can leave us feeling exhausted and on edge. Maybe for you the overwhelm looks like anxiety: constant worry and attempts to control your life. Or maybe it looks like depression: isolating, staying in bed, and shutting down to drown out the noise. It can be a struggle to live out of our authentic selves. But here, at Kin Counseling Services, you'll find the support and understanding you've been searching for.

I have formal training in EMDR, AEDP, parts work, and mindfulness-based therapies.
I work with individual adults on issues related to anxiety, stress, relationships, perfectionism, and traumatic experiences. Sometimes change is a choice, and other times we are blindsided by life. Regardless of what leads to a shift for you, having a compassionate ally on the journey can make all the difference. I’m not immune to struggle or disappointment in my own life, and see my work as part change expert and part companion. Simply another human being coming alongside you to help you process, make peace with, or initiate steps towards a bigger transition that leads to less suffering, and more joy.

I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) for individuals and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families.
I have worked with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety/ trauma, insomnia, bipolar, etc. I look for patterns and evaluate systemic factors to assess sources of internal distress. Collaborating as a guide and creating safety is my main initial focus. At New Pathways, we also offer integrative healthcare services through psychiatric care using conventional medication and natural supplements for treating mental health. Studies show the best outcomes when utilizing both psychotherapy and medication management.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
