Barber Family Counseling & Wellness is taking an innovative approach to mental health by recognizing the connection that exists between body and mind, the effects that one can have on the other and the synergy that must exist between the two. Ever since high school, Chelsea has been passionate about facilitating the healing power of creative expression via art therapy. Art therapy is a mental health profession in which the creative process is used as the avenue for the client and the art therapist to build a therapeutic relationship. Through art therapy, the client can express themselves and gain new insight about the self and their place in the world. Chelsea has interned at a school, residential treatment facility, and Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and has worked in community mental health with an intensive outpatient/rehabilitation program, and private practice.

I served as a military psychologist in the USAF from 2001-2008, both in the US and overseas. I moved to Colorado in 2008, and as a civilian I've continued working with all branches of the military and their families. I've treated military and sexual trauma extensively. I have worked closely with folks who have experienced mild to terrible to horrifying events. I don't flinch.

Play therapy is a powerful way to help your child grow and heal. Sometimes, you as a parent need the support to journey with your child through a healing process.
