There are things about relationships that all of us find challenging. Communication with your spouse, partner, or children for some. Trauma experienced by yourself or someone close to you. We could insert 100 other examples here, but no one should have to try to figure it out on their own. There is someone out there that can support you on your journey, and I hope that person is me.

Call me at (805) 372-2220 and we'll come up with a plan to help you or your child feel better.
If you want to feel more grounded, joyful, connected, and at peace, you're in the right place. So much of our suffering is actually due to un-discharged traumatic stress. When we're exposed to stress, our nervous systems can get stuck "on" or "off." When we're stuck "on", we may feel anxious, panicked, emotionally overwhelmed, or enraged, and we may find ourselves with chronic tension, pain, or challenges with insomnia or digestion. When we're stuck "off" we can feel deeply depressed, ashamed, flat, dead, chronically fatigued, and disconnected or disoriented. In order to feel better, our nervous systems needs help regulating.

I offer play therapy to create a safe and engaging environment for children and teens to articulate emotions and experiences they might not yet have the words for.

Whether you are a parent looking to find support for your child or someone whose wanting to start therapy, I offer empathetic support and tools to cope with life's many stressors. I work with children, teens, young adults, and families to help address challenges with chronic stress, anxiety, depression, school/behavioral issues, divorce, and family trauma. My practice honors diversity and offers non-judgmental space for you to feel safe and heard.

I am certified in TF-CBT, an evidence-based trauma modality and have worked with many trauma related cases with children and adults, related to sexual abuse and domestic violence.
With specialties in addiction and dual diagnosis; including depression, anxiety and trauma history, I take an integrated, holistic approach to care. The therapeutic relationship is one in which optimum healing is, as a result of the reciprocal bond, between the therapist and the client. One can only be open to the experience of change and improvement in their life if they feel safe. This is the therapy space that I provide in order to help shape authentic, loving and accurate self-awareness. I provide nurturance, guidance, affirmation and compassionate reflection in order to help clients feel grounded in their own decision-making.

Over the past 10 years of having my practice I have worked with children and adolescence to adults, either in individual, couple, or family sessions.
I have been given the greatest opportunity to be welcomed into my clients' lives and assist them in creating their definition and plan for a well life. I focus on the working relationship between my clients' and I, where theory and practice only enhances the work done in session. My goal is not to be a client's therapist every week for the rest of their lives, but rather to have them create the strength and determination to leave my office applying it to their everyday lives.

My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, children/adolsecents/families, major life transitions, trauma/PTSD and stress management.
We all face moments that test our foundations. Seasons where we find ourselves struggling, often feeling alone and quietly wishing things would get better. It’s important for you to know that there’s no need to suffer. Hope is here. As therapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), warmth, empathy, and growth are what you can expect from our time together. I believe in a compassionate, integrated approach to care, specifically tailored to meet your individual needs.

I am a mediator, translator, and witness. I can help clients rewrite their narratives, fostering growth and healing. I attend workshops, read, and learn from my clients to stay atop of the latest information and cultural norms. Together, you can learn to hold space for transformation and healing. In a first session, I would hope to teach you how to navigate the therapeutic process, go over expectations, and your personal goals. Eventually, I hope therapy feels as comfortable as eating pizza in your sweatpants & chatting with a trusted friend (with real science going on in the background).

Psychotherapy can be an opportunity for self reflection, growth and healing. When life seems to be stagnant, painful or overwhelming, a therapist can offer solace, guidance and a container for the psychological process. I have spent over 20 years accompanying others on the journey through healing and have found that a deep connection to ones own soul can offer a road to a life of meaning and wholeness. I seek to offer safety and curiosity as we work through whatever is causing pain and struggle in the life of the clients I treat.

My primary focus in private practice is evaluation and assessment for a variety of psychological conditions, such as ADHD, Autism, Mood Disorders, Learning Disabilities and Personality Disorders. The second focus I have is treatment. I have an integrative approach to therapy in which I use multiple modalities that fit my clients’ individual needs. Some of the modalities I use are interpersonal therapy, supportive therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I also view other factors that can affect the client, such as cultural, medical, and environmental factors.

During that time I have been everything from an “Overnight/ Stay-awake” in residential facilities, a crisis intervention worker performing suicide and homicide evaluations, to being a Clinical Director of a mental health program for a large company. Child Therapists
Child psychologists in 93405 provide mental health therapy to children and are experts in child development.

Every comprehensive review of therapy with children shows that all credible approaches, when performed by a competent mental health clinician, produce almost the same results. About half of all kids will get better. Of those that improve, 80% will show progress in a relatively short time (likely in fewer than six sessions), the remaining 20% will need longer-term support.

The best child therapists in 93405 build great relationships with the child and the parent. They also see the child's strengths and are open to hearing the child's possible solutions to the challenges the child faces. Finally, a good therapist appreciates the child's culture and is sensitive to the values of the child's community.
