Who is this guy? Hello and welcome ! Here's my story: My name is Mark. I'm gonna go ahead and tear down some walls. I have ADHD. I am gay and also a survivor of gay reparative therapy and religious trauma. I'm an LCSW with 13 years experience working with adults and children in acute psychiatric care settings including psychiatric hospitals, emergency rooms, and intensive residential programs for adults. The latter half of my career, I have honed in on providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for adults in individual settings. I enjoy accompanying my clients on their unique journey to empowerment.

I am a trauma-informed therapist trained in EMDR, SomEx, Partner Betrayal Trauma, breathwork and incorporate DBT skills into my sessions. I enjoy weaving ceremony and ritual into my work with an emphasis on grounding and somatic experiences. Using an attachment-focused lens, I work with clients to improve communication and connection in their relationships. I believe we are are interconnected species and everyone is capable of living a life of purpose and meaning in healthy relationship to themselves and others. The mind-body-spirit connection is the foundation of what I teach and practice.

I am a Chicagoland native that migrated to Nashville in 2019 to pursue my passion for helping and motivating those in need of guidance and counseling. Working as a mental health professional with more than two decades of experience in counseling, public service and resolution, leadership roles, and mentoring, I have developed a distinct skill set for providing effective counseling and act as a positive support system for adults, adolescents, and children.

People choose to come to therapy for so many reasons. They feel overwhelmed, tired, stuck, or numb. As a therapist, I aim to provide a nonjudgmental space for people to feel and be understood. Oftentimes, the things keeping us stuck are the strategies we've developed over time to cope with hardship. Therapy is about addressing what is no longer working for you and connecting with your inner wisdom to develop new ways of relating to yourself & the world. I work with my clients to cultivate emotional awareness, learn skills to respond adaptively to difficult emotions, and increase connection within themselves and their relationships.

I am a daughter of Lao refugees, born and raised in Tennessee. Throughout life, I have learned that every human has a unique story; having a longing to be understood, accepted, and seen and continue to learn the importance of understanding all the different parts that make up my clients’ lives.
