I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Pennsylvania with 15 years of experience working with individuals in a variety of settings with people who present with anxiety, depression, grief/bereavement, stress management, life transitions, substance use, bipolar disorder, and other mental health issues. I typically treat anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use, and support clients with behavior change, life stage + transitions, identity + sexuality, relationships, and career issues. I am trauma-informed, apply queer, feminist, anti-oppressive, and body/sex-positive lenses, and incorporate harm reduction principles. I also offer clinical supervision.

There are countless ways I like to describe my work, but I often think of therapy as similar to mountaineering: We tether to another person as we build trust and explore the natural landscape of our humanness. At times treacherous and scary; at times awe-inspiring and profound. The first step in solving a problem is understanding what causes it. In essence, the ways we see and understand life, relationships, and our place in life get in the way of achieving our goals. I see angst, anxiety, and depression, among other human experiences of suffering, as the language the human soul uses to ask for help for a way out of past or present pain beyond relationships, ways of being, etc.

I believe in a strength-based, holistic, and pragmatic approach to change that focuses on each client's unique needs; and I view life's challenges as opportunities to further growth and build a more meaningful life. In active collaboration with a client, my technique balances insight, exploration, and coping-skills development that helps clients affect real change in the present. I've trained and worked with a diverse range of people of all ages and issues including depression, anxiety, substance use, co-occurring mental health, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions (e.g., divorce, career changes, menopause).

Navigating the complexities of the human experience can be hard and confusing. Despite our best efforts to construct a life aligned with our dreams and aspirations, we often find ourselves confronted by waves of pain, anxiety, grief, trauma, depression, stress, and guilt. In the midst of these struggles, it's natural to question ourselves and our behaviors, wondering, “What's wrong with me?” We feel exhausted as we desperately try to change ourselves, seeking any form of relief from the relentless tide of inner turmoil, yet it seems that nothing we do brings the desired results.
