Interventions I am trained in are Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), Brainspotting (BSP), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
You may be noticing that you are struggling with the stress and anxiety that life brings. You also may see changes in your mood, motivation, and self-worth because of it. Naturally, that may spill over into your work, personal relationships, and family relationships. You may also resort to unhealthy behaviors like substances, food, video games, etc. just to feel better, or not feel at all, only for a short while. You are not alone in how you are feeling, and there is also room for you to grow and heal to be your best and healthy self. You deserve better, and I can help you get to a place where you start to give yourself better.

I help people name what is "stuck" and work with the mind and body using Brainspotting, IFS/parts work and other somatic skills to go beyond surviving and into thriving.
You are ready to start working on healing inner wounds, so let's start by getting curious about what your nervous system needs to feel safe and ready, using curiosity and compassion. Distress and trauma need to move through you, not around you. We can start softening your symptoms related to anxiety, PTSD or C-PTSD, and grief/loss by looking within. For couples in distress, you CAN engage with more thoughtful reflection and heal relational wounds in order to transform your relationship; And if there is ambivalence about your future together as a couple, I can help you choose a path forward using short-term Discernment Counseling.

I offer Brainspotting, EMDR, and EFT to help you achieve real change.
The impact of painful past experiences, relationship problems, and never feeling "good enough" are interfering with your life. You feel broken and like you have to constantly wear a mask so others don’t see you’re struggling. Disconnection and hurt are your norm in many of your relationships. You’ve read self-help books and been to therapy before, but nothing has actually led to the growth and change you’re looking for in your life and relationships. You have a sense that you can have a life with more confidence, stability, and fulfilling relationships, and are thinking it’s time you get some support.

Specialities are: Facilitating transitions across the lifespan; Adults in recovery from narcissistic trauma; Chronic loss; Practical spirituality; Brainspotting; EMDR; EFT Tapping; Building healthy relationships, Adoption reunion counseling, Love, authenticity, self-actualization and service.
Psychotherapy for individuals and groups regarding life issues: work, aging, health, relationships, finances, loss and grief, and experiencing the Self. I facilitate adaptation to ongoing living loss such as a medical diagnosis, forced estrangement, or the failing health of a beloved family member. Coping skills are formed early to survive in family-of-origin, which is a microcosm of the culture. As we age, these skills become less adaptive, causing pain. Successful transition through life involves changing ways of coping with life-enhancing skills, and building resilience through healing attachment issues and trauma.

I'm trained in Somatic Experiential Therapy (SomEx), Brainspotting, Trauma Informed Care and Recovery Coaching.
My specialties are managing depression/anxiety, healing trauma, and relationship enhancement. I also enjoy working with individuals and families facing addiction, especially process addictions such as social media, pornography, gambling, and food. My style is best described as experiential, which means that we learn and grow through experience (rather than being told what to do). I view everyone's problems in the context of their life, history, and relationships. As a somatic practitioner, I believe that our body is our most effective healing tool.

Brainspotting Therapists

How does brainspotting work?

Brainspotting works by using eye positioning to identify and process traumatic memories so that a client is better able to move forward and live with less fear. The theory behind brainspotting is that by identifying where a person looks when thinking of traumatic memories, a therapist will be able to guide them to focus on that spot and work with the client to get them out of the “fight, flight, freeze” response associated with the traumatic memory.

Is brainspotting an evidence-based therapy?

Brainspotting is a theory-based alternative therapy. It is one of the newest forms of treatment, so very little research has been completed that examines the mechanism by which it works. The theory behind brainspotting is that eye position can be linked to areas of the brain that store and process memory.

How effective is brainspotting?

Because it is such a new treatment, the effectiveness of brainspotting cannot be quantified. Some people have found it to be effective on its own, or in conjunction with other types of therapy. It is considered an alternative therapy, and it is popular with people for whom more traditional therapies have proven ineffective.

How long does brainspotting take to work?

A typical brainspotting session will last between 60 to 90 minutes. There is no required number of sessions needed to complete brainspotting therapy, but in many cases it is delivered over the course of about six sessions. Clients are encouraged to rate their level of distress prior to a session and again following a session, and to track progress.
