As humans, we strive to feel safe, heard, and understood. Without these three components, we may be left feeling lost, broken, or insufficient as an individual. In session, I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment to explore the obstacles that are keeping you from living a more meaningful life. I’m trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

I operate a small and quaint private practice aimed at providing competent psychological services for a variety of mental health issues, symptoms, and disorders. I generally work with individuals who are experiencing issues with mood/emotional regulation, relationships, anxiety, panic, phobias, work performance, parenting, and navigating adolescence. I also have worked with individuals struggling with anger issues for many years. My availability to take new patients varies depending on our current patient load. However, I am currently only accepting new patients for evaluation.

I am skilled at helping people reduce anxiety and alleviate the impact that trauma has had in their lives. I enjoy supporting people through relationship struggles or big changes in life. I want to help you feel like you are in control of your emotions and your reactions, instead of feeling like they are controlling you. I pride myself on being highly empathetic and providing support/guidance in a non-judgmental way. I am able to connect with people easily to help you feel comfortable enough to look within. It's within this safe therapeutic relationship that authentic change can occur.

I have worked in the Behavioral Health field for nearly 25 years, mostly in community mental health in Maricopa County. I have a lot of experience with understanding how mental health and trauma are intertwined. I have done a lot of work with families and understand the complexities of the relationship. I specialize in families and marriage therapy, having done this predominantly over the last several years. I am here to support you as you create a life that you are proud of.

I know first hand how hard it can be to reach out for help, when the world tells us the goal is to "have it all together." Therapy can be uncomfortable and difficult, but that is how change happens. I like to make the process of change less challenging for people by making therapy about making a connection with someone, and providing a safe, supportive environment. Healing is a chance to look at the story we are living in and rewrite the parts that don't fit anymore. Our lives are busy and chaotic and somewhere in all of that, we need to find time to build better versions of ourselves and healthy relationships with others.

Recovering from past abuse, trauma, neglect or anything less than an ideal situation can be challenging, lonely and painful. I offer a path to work through these issues with insight and understanding. I also enjoy working with those interested in personal goal setting to improve and build on what they already have.

Life can be challenging and you are not alone in your struggles. We often get stuck in using coping strategies that are no longer serving us well. The process of therapy can help you discover what is causing you to suffer and how you can improve your responses to life situations. You will find that some things are within your control and also that acceptance is key to those that are not. I believe that all of us have an innate tendency to move towards healing and a trusting therapeutic relationship can help you with that.

Candace Delight Cook is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Associate Marital Family Therapist (AMFT) in the state of Arizona who has 4 years of experience partnering with individuals, couples and families seeking help with depression, anxiety, life transitions, trauma, and relationship issues. Candace completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and received her Master of Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University.

In addition, Mythea is a relationship and Sexual Informed couples professional after attending several trainings on all topics related to sustainable and passionate relationships. Her dedication to empowering individuals to discover their inner strength and resilience is her foundation of her distinctive approach to healing.
