I operate through an existential and attachment-based lens.
Now accepting NEW clients with limited EVENING availability! Every person has a story that yearns to be told, to be seen and understood by someone else. You deserve to be able to tell your story in a place that feels safe. Trauma and relationship issues can leave an impact that lasts, affecting the relationships you are trying to grow and thrive in now. You are capable of healing and building a more secure attachment style that allows for strong and thriving relationships. I work with women as they navigate these issues, as they begin to rewrite the stories of relationships that they can have.

Welcome, sweet soul. If you’re a South Asian woman who feels torn between staying true to yourself and fitting into the expectations of others, you’re not alone. Many of us find ourselves sacrificing authenticity for the sake of attachment and being liked in our relationships. As a Pakistani Muslim therapist, I’m here to help you navigate these challenges. We’ll work together to understand these feelings and use techniques like EMDR and somatic practices to help you reconnect with who you truly are. Let’s find a balance where you can feel authentic and valued, both by yourself and others.

Have you seen you a change occur in your child or teen and are left in confusion? Are you concerned about your child’s behavior? I will work collaboratively with you and your child on solutions to the concerns. Sessions with me involve movement and play. Your child will be given a space to call their own, a space that is safe for creativity and active play. Together, through creative projects and moving around outside, we can find that sense of self again. Sitting in a therapy room talking can get monotonous, so let’s bring life to the therapy room. Let’s let our creative and active sides strike that match of hope and joy again.

You've worked so hard for everything you have. You thrive in your career and you seemingly have the life that most people would dream of. You take care of your family. You're the go to for your friends. But you look around and wonder who actually cares for you. Who knows the real you? Who do you reach out to when you're feeling low? There's a push and pull between reaching your goals and taking the time to enjoy the life you've created. The imposter syndrome, the isolation, the burn out. Every week there's a rollercoaster of emotions. You know something needs to change, you just aren't sure what or how to make the changes.

WE OFFER PHONE AND VIDEO SESSIONS. Able to offer ADHD and personality testing. Sometimes the hardest step is the first one, and part of my goal is to ensure that you feel safe in the therapeutic relationship. Without that feeling of trust, it can be hard to gain ground on the changes you want to see. My clients would describe me as tough and goal driven - I strive to ensure we are working on your goals both in and out of the session (my clients may also describe the homework I send their way). Our offices also provide ADHD, Personality (Diagnosis) and Autism testing.

Are you realizing the things that have happened in your life are holding you back? It's hard to relax. Life feels more black than white. You're told you worry too much, and you know that's right, but you don't know how to stop. Often, trauma from the past can be a large factor in this. I enjoying working with clients who are hoping to "reset" their automatic responses by addressing past and recent hurtful events. I use a "bottom up" approach primarily, meaning I focus on the pain that the body and mind are still holding on to unconsciously. Together, we'll work to rewire those automatic beliefs and triggered responses.

No matter who we are, our relationships influence and mold our experience of life. We all have a desire to create and maintain deep connections to our families, spouse, children, and friends that help sustain us during our challenges and storms and lift us higher during the joys and peaks. For most of us, though, that process is difficult and not without pitfalls. As a marriage and family therapist, I keep in mind the importance of relationships and how they affect and shape all of us. This knowledge allows me to walk alongside and guide my clients in their journeys towards wholeness of self and wholeness of their relationships.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
